The Guides, Scouts, Cubs and Brownies led by their colour party, then headed the parade to the cenotaph where a brief service was held. Two minutes silence observed and wreath placed by Mrs, John Carter, Twenty-five ladies attended the W.1. meeting in the Community Hall Friday afternoon with Mrs, Lorne Thompson and Mrs. James Henry hostesses. After the Opening Ode and Collect, Mrs. Cecil Hill read the Scripture pas- sage. Mrs. John Rahm paid a fine tribute to Mrs. Fred Bailey, a life-long member who passed away, October 80. A minute of silence was observed and Mrs. Rahm offered prayer. After some discussion Mrs, J. Rahm and Mrs. R. Larmer were appointed to plan the Children's Christmas Party. Roll call was answered by a favorite Bible verse. Mrs. V. Bailey expressed thanks of the Bailey family for the flowers. Mrs. Sanford VanCamp re- ported on Port Perry Hospital meet- ing. At this point pupils from Yelverton and Galloway's School under the dir- ection of Mr, Jas Gray, sang two choruges, 8, Janice Byers, Blackstock, "Put- ting the Beaver Back to Work"; 9, Elaine Bebee, Courtice; 10, Gwen Wraight, Hampton, "Hawaii", While the judges, Mr. Ross of Queen Elizabeth School, Oshawa, and Mr. Korry, of 'Dr. Canon School, Oshawa, were making their decisions, pupils of Janetville school and Mr, Gray, sang two choruses. No placings were made but five numbers, 1, b, 6, 8 and 10 were chosen to compete with five from East Dur- ham at Orono on Nov. 18th, Each con- testant here was presented with a book donated by the East Durham Trustees' and Ratepayers' Association. Hunter, When the set time of eight o'clock arrived the chairman of the group Mr, G Parrott ably conducted a sacred but lively sing-song of familiar hymns. Those taking part in the worship service included Rev. E. 8. Linstead, Miss Mildred Martyn and Mr. John Pickard. An inspiring message suit- able for any age was delivered by Rev. E. W. Fuller.. It was gratifying to learn Joan Peel had decided to join our roll. Esther Heayn produced literature pertaining to 'necessities for unfor- tunate infants. As a result a bolt of flannelette to be purchased and ar- ticles sewed or contributed for pos- sibly four complete layettes. Jean Martyn was given authority to pur- chase "Elmer Safety Flag" for the school, which had been previously dis- cussed. A fall euchre was planned for Fri- day evenifig, Nov. 20, in the homes of W. Middleton, O. Brown and M. Snel. grove. Audrey Middleton and Joan Peel pleasantly offered to purchase prizes for the euchre. Instead of our customary Xmas gift exchange several ideas were sprouted. Finally a Christmas party to be held in the home of Myrtle Snelgrove, Dec. 8, with each hubby a guest. Repeating Mizpah closed this busi- ness. A small hot plate was served by F, Smith, J. Martyn and G. Bea- cock, Mr. W. J. Bond, Toronto, visited his relatives here at the week-end." Mrs. Sarah Longhurst of Zephyr, visited her sisters Mrs, Collins 'and : Mrs. Somerville on Thursday.
