We marvelled at the statistical department where ma- chines do in minutes what it would take a crew of people days to as- semble, concerning the financial ha- bits of credit union members. We visited the maple syrup co-operative and capped the morning with a visit with Senator Vaillancourt, Quebec's , wonderful gentleman who has worked 'all his life for the people and he is ever alive to what is good and whole- some for his folk. It was a great honor to discuss financing for indi- viduals with this alert gentleman with the big purple pansy in his button- hole. Dinner was in a modern motel with the talk concerning insurance for credit union organizations and after- wards we returned to the office build- ing and saw plans for the new of- fice space with recreational centre, surrounded by groups of houseés which is being started this week and will The special group of houses for elder citizens was of great interest and also the fact that these houses were to be available to anyone, not necessarily the work- ers in the credit union niovement. We visited a credit union which is on a par with our own but where jours is mainly rural this one is in a | district of professional people. It is five years old and had slightly over 1a thousand members, all teachers, ac- { countants, lawyers, etc., the residents of a new sub-division.
