It was indeed a delight to see the accomplishments obtained by care- ful 'planning 'and united effort, It is an inspiration tovothers. Due to the haying season it was difficult to get our usual prompt open. ing and an air of fatigue was evident, Joyce: Heayn's group had planned a thoughful program using Dominion Day as the central theme. The Scripture reading taken from the cur- rent studies . of the: Prophet, Amos, was asociated with the story of Edith Cavell and her work and thus on to our work in enacting a part for re- taining a God-fearing nation. Through the roll call we recalled famous men or women who have helped to form Can, history, Joyce Heayn read a patriotic poem, "Canadian Born' which revived our pride in our native land. Betty Reader gave a suitable read- ing entitled 'Happy Birthday Canada'. She also conducted an original 20 point contest of "Know Chifeida". The Secretary-Treasurer read let- ters from Leona Batry and Bonnie Gerrow written from their 'Western vacation spots. : The Treasurer gave 's detail report of the work which had been done by| the Centénnial Committee in raising funds for the Renovations. It was learned that approximately $136 had been received . in private donations since 1958 from farmer residents who lovingly remembered the old church, $113 had been raised through special effort. Repairs and improvements through 1959-60 amounted to. $769. Many other donations -had been re- ceived at the Centennial services, Three former residents who were in. vited to our Centennial have since passed on, namely: Frank Jeffrey, of Oshawa; Vera (Hodgson) Richardson, Brooklin; and Mrs. Archie Black, of Auction Sales SATURDAY, JULY 16, 15 Short- horns, 19656 Ferguson Tractor, Imple- ments, Pioneer Chain Saw, Hay, Grain, some Furniture, the property - of 'Walter M.
