There will be influence though, for good and bad which will be felt for many years. Nineteen hundred and sixty has be- come a part of the world as we know it, and stands there to challenge us. In all our Churches there were hearts that were comforted and cheered, and hope and love encouraged, There was also a revealing of the ugliness of sin, and holding forth of forgiveness. The goal has always been a little higher than our grasp, and if it were not so, then there would be no need of heaven. = We end every year on the highest note--"For unto you is born this day a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Our congregations on Christmas Sunday were very good, and we had some visitors with us on the Island. This will be the first time for a goodly number of children that Christmas has come on Sunday. There were some families who held Christ- mas Supper and Santa Claus on Sat- urday; and others who waited until -Rather-than miss the Ser- vice on Sunday, one of our men at- tended an earlier Service not far from his own Church, so that he could welcome his family as they came to spend Christmas with him. : and is & typieal winter's day. There have been a few cold days, but noth- ing to be compared with other places. It won't be very long before we will be having more daylight; and before in the meantime, we must make the 'to rest. _ Our ground is nicely blanketed in- | snow. 1It-is falling very gently now, we know it, Spring will be here, But be @ who would like to unite with Church on that Sunday, please get in touch with the Minister. Very shortly, there will be a class for all who would like to join the Church, and the Minister will be very happy to meet with all who may so desire' Some of our families ended the year on a sad mote because death visited them, Last week Friday, Walter Howsam of Manchester and Charles Pogue of thé Island were laid Our very deepest sympathy and love go out to all those who mourn, and we commend you to the tender mercies of our.God. We in- vite you one and all to come to the Services of your Church. All of us have a contribution to make, In his Sermon on Sunday the Minister said: "The Church of Christ is as beautiful as a bride adorned to meet her hus- band. For the Church is you and me transformed by. the spirit of the liv- ing Christ. Wherever you find a soul steeped in the spirit of our Lord, there you have the greatest evidence of the coming God's Kingdom, We shall only be saved by receiving God's Kingdom of Love within ourselves, and having received it, then we can- not but show forth in as many ways| the light that shines in our souls." find strength and co year what you did n nineteen sixty.
