JA HOCKEY News MINOR HOCKEY NEWS-- PORT BANTAMS ELIMINATE UXBRIDGE IN PLAY-OFF SERIES Port Perry Bantams defeated Ux- bridge 6-2 -in Uxbridge last Friday night. This was the Port Perry boys second win in a row, to eliminate Ux- bridge from O.M.H.A. Bantam play- offs. This game was a .big en ef fort with every hoy playing good hockey. The star of the night was Rodger Stephens in the goal. Hé kicked out and caught everything the Uxbridge team could throw at him, except in the last period when a couple of bouncers got by him. It was these two opening goals that gave Port Perry the margin needed to take the game. - Wanamaker held Bobcaygeon scoreless in the opening period but the final two periods saw cach team scoring threé goals. The checking was fierce in the see- ond period as both teams poured on the pressure. Nichols came up with an early goal for Bobcaygeon and Jenkins countered five minutes later with a sizzling slap-shot fromthe blue-line that baffled the Boheaygeon net-minder. Carnochan's unassisted goal came after only thirty-two seconds of play in the final period to move Port Perry Gray and Geer combined to set up Burnett's second goal of the evening and it looked for awhile like Port-had the game wrap- ped up. Then Bobcaygeon caught fire with a pair of goals in the final five minutes to threaten Port Perry's lead but they were unable-to close the gap once Wanamaker decided to close the goal-door.
