A HOCKEY NEWS ATOM HOUSELEAGUE-- Saturday night saw the Atom Lea- gue play-offs come to an end with Ross Sweetman's team, led by Glen Sweetman (2 goals) down Howard Hall's teant on the round 4 goals to 2. Going into this last game 2 goals down, after being shut- out last week by the Sweetman crew, Howard Hall's team came out flying scoring their first goal in just 9 seconds of the first period, on a pass from the open- ing face-off from Ted Hall to Bill Brain who skated right in and scored. Dave Gray made it 2-0 at the 9 min- ute mark scoring unassisted. This tying up the series at 2-2. David Gray ran into a number of | penalities. and Glen Sweetman took over the scoring with 2-goals before the first period ended. With no fur- ther scoring by either team in the final period the round ended 4:2 for Sweetman's Team. - - PEE-WEE-- Rod Foster's Pee Wee's downed Bud Heard's Team 2-0 Saturday night to | win the round 8-1. Goals by Dawson and Marks were enough to win this close game. Four penalties, 3 to the winners and one "to the losers had no bearing on the scoring. Unfortunately there were a few players in this series that did not see any ice time in the final game. Winning is one thing, but giving all players an opportunity to play hockey is the main purpose of House League Hockey and it is hoped that this situa- tion will be corrected for next season. BANTAM-- The final bantam game ended in a tie 1-1 on goals by Bill Beare and R, Lee. - b "penalties were called in this close hard checking game. Once again a successful hockey sea- son has been completed in the Port Perry House League hockey. This year it has been evident that more parents are taking an interest in their children and nothing makes a boy play harder than to have his mother or father on hand to see him play.
