Colville, Sunderland, president of Ontario County Federation of Ag- riculture, welcomed the participants and turned the meeting over to Law- rence Doble, Uxbridge, ¢hairman of the education committee. Mr. Doble introduced the resource leaders jvho were, Eleanor Saracuse and Frank Willock from Community Program- mes Branch Department of Education; Lynn Fair, Department of Agricul- ture; Ray Hergott, Robert Smallfield and Dave Crone, Ontario Federation 'of Agriculture. : Topics dealt with were Effective Meetings, Programme Planning, Pro- per use of Committees, Publicity and Public Relations. There was also a Problem Clinic and Short Summary of the day. Mr. Fair, who very capably present- ed the Summary, pointed out that the chairman of a meeting has a great responsibility to get the meeting started promptly and to keep'it run- ning smoothly. Effective meetings provide justice. and courtesy to all. Programme Planning is an important aspect. Meetings must have a pur- pose, progress and people. Pedple are most important -- they need to communicate, belong, be accepted, and find recognition, . ¥ Committees are a tool to get work done. They can be used very effect- ively. Committees get more people working, bring out potential leader- ship, and divides up the work load. When appointing committees one might remember this definition--"A committee is a selected group chosen for its particular ability to perform a specific task for the organization which appoints it. The Women's Association met in the Church last Thursday afternoon with an atendance of nine members and two visitors. The meeting opened with hymn and prayer. There was a short business session conducted by Pres. Mrs. Fielding. Ten dollars was seven dollars and sixty five cents was handed in from sale of cards and remnants. Mr. Alvin Blades, Assistant Agri- cultural Representative, extended a welcome to all the boys and girls and|' their parents" He stressed the im- portance and value of 4-H club work to a boy or girl and why it gives training in good citizenship as well as training in the various agricultural projects. Mr. Blades, assisted by Club Leaders, Les Smith and Aubrey Buch- ner, discussed the rules and regula- I tions and the use of the project book for the 4-H club members.
