Convention On Saturday, April 16, the local T.O.P.S. Club attended the Ontario Provincial Recognition Day at Wind- sor, Ontario, The day opened at 8:30 with reg- istration and an address was -given by Alderman Mrs. Cameron H. Mont- rose and Jean Flett, Area Supervisor for Ontario. Club Merit Certificates were given out and we had two winners of these. First place winner wag Iris Boyce and second. place won by Georgina Espie Of course the big event of the day was the Crowning of the Queen, and this year the honour went to St. Cath- arines with the loss of 101 lbs. in one year. The plaque this year went to Dundas, Ont. for the most weight lost per person with the average of 16,9 Ibs. The Walking stick was presented to us for coming the furthest distance. The feature of the evening was u panel of Dietitions answering diff- erent questions on weight contrel. In case anyone is interested of what you can eat at a banquet and still be low caloried, here is what we had. Consomme soup, steak and mushroom gravy, carrots and beans, cheese, celery, lettuce, carrot sticks and olives, rolls, For dessert half of grapefruit and coffee. cottage | Donna Johnson - Crowned Queen Miss Donna Johnson, Uxbridge, R. 4, was crowned the 1961 Ontario County Junior Farmer Queen at the "At Home" Dance held in the Port Perry Public School Auditorium, on Friday, April 7th, Donna is the President of the Ux- bridge Junior Institute, and Secre- tary-Treasurer of the Ontario County Junior Farmers' Association. Donna is presently o nthe staff at the Port Perry Public School, The theme of the dance was "An Enchanted Evening". The sauditori- um was beautifully decorated with arbours of roses, sprays of earnations and with pink and blue streamers. The music for the evening was pro- vided by "The Ambassadors" led by Mr, Harry Hawkins, Lindsay. The large group in attendance en- joyed a turkey buffet lunch prepared by the girls of the Brooklin Junior Institute.
