SPECIAL PURPOSES--Chairman J. Dryden reported that the matter referred to the Special Purposes Com- mittee was the proposed Catholic Cemetery in Lots 23 and 24, Conces- sion 3, the Frank O'Connor farm. (1) They requested that they should be protected in some manner relative to assessment. This however, is il- legal and no action was taken. (2) In regards to roads the com- mittee recommended that in principal the recommendations of the Planning Board be accepted, namely--That a road be constructed by the applicant with the southerly limit of the 66' al- lowance to be approximately 1567 ft. south of the original northerly limit of lots 23 & 24, and parallel thereto to provide public access across the cemetery property. The road to be constructed by the Cemetery Board, subject to approval of the Road Sup- erintendent. (3) That a 33 ft. allowance imme- diately north of the south boundary of the property in Lot 24 be deeded to the Township of Whitby to provide for % of a future road allowance. It was moved that the Special Pur- poses Committee report be accepted and that this committee be given power to consider problems that may arise and report back to Council. Carried. NEW BUSINESS -- Councillor D. Roberts requested that a listing of Council Members and directory of Committee Officials be made up sim- ilar to the 1961 issue. Following discussion it was moved that a di- rectory be printed similar to 1961 is- sue with the addition of the Fire Chiefs. Carried. : Resolutions 1. That the Roads Superintendent is hereby authorized to attend the Instruction School 'on May 14th and 16th, and present his expense account to Council. Carried. 2. That the amount of $408.60 con- stituting unpaid taxes in 1961 by Meadowcrest and paid by O.W.R.C. on behalf of the Brooklin Water Area be rebated. Carried. 8. That the Clerk of the Twp. of Whitby be authorized to carify the items and proposals with the Minister of Municipal Affairs relative to the problems of settlement of park lands with the four Co-ops in the Garrard Road and Rossland Road area. Carried. 4. That the Building Inspector be authorized to issue a building permit to erect a,garage on Lot No. 10, Plan 534, as the construction of this gar- age does not obstruct the site view. The Motion was put and carried on a recorded vote of 6b Yeas and 0 Nays. 6. That the Clerk be authorized to prepare an ammendment to By-law No. 1784 covering a reduced side yard on Lot 10, Plan 534. Carried. 6. That the Clerk be and is hereby authorized to advertize for a full time girl for the office. Knowledge of typing and book-keeping essential, Salary $24.00 per year. Carried. 7. That Fire Chief James Watson be instructed by this Council. (1) To deliver the fire truck to American Marsh Co. (2) Also to attend the University Extension Course. (3) That the Fire Chief will receive remuneration for same. Carried. 8. That the Council of the Twp. of Whitby regrets the inadequate service provided the municipality and tax- payers by the Municipal Auditor in the preparation of the Annual State- ment. Carried. 9. That the Reeve and the Treas- urer be and they are hereby author- ized to issue cheques on the account of the Township of Whitby in favour of the several persons whose names appear on Relief Accounts Sheet No. 4 numbering 1 to 7 inclusive, amount of accounts $367.20. Carried. 10. That the Reeve and the Treas- urer be and they are hereby author- ized to issue cheques on the account of the Township of Whitby in favour of the several persons whose names appear on General Accounts Sheet No. 4, numbering 1 to 68 inclusive, amount of Accounts $7429.94. Carried. 11.
