Ts Port Perry Bantams Oshawa 2 - 1 This was a very fine game and strictly a pitching duel between Bill! Beare of Port Perry and Spiers of Oshawa. % 4 Spiers had 22 strikeouts and Bill Beare 17. Bill allowed: only four hits and Spiers two. Port's hits were by Graham Powell and lan Lytle. Davidson Wields Big Bat in Braves Win SONYA -- July 8th In sweltering 90° heat this after- noon, the Sonya Braves cooled off a trio of Lindsay hurlers, and pocketed an unbelievable 29-10 win, to raise their season's record to 10-2 and mam- tain a slim margin over second place Little Britain. Lost in the barrage of 27 Brave hits, was a fine seven-in- ning pitching stint turned in by 'Doug' McMillan, who gained his third win against no defeats, "I'ed' Hallet tin- ished with two relief innings, as every Brave saw action in the lopsided win. Unlike the TV westerners, the 'In- juns' from Sonya continue to win, much to the chagrin of their "pale- face" opponetns. In disposing of the Lindsay wagon train, 'Moe' Davidson was the tribe laeder with a 360 ft. line shot over the right centre rence, with a mate aboard in the 8rd, a second consecutive cireunit clout for 3 runs in the fifth, (this blast one-hop- ped over the centre field fence at the 400 ft. point incidently) then tapered off in his next two appearances, with a mere double and an ordinary every- day single. With 13 total bases trom four hits, 'Moe' made Jack 'the Beast' Hallet's 5 singles appear very. paltry, indeed, and the 8 picked up by Wana- maker, 'Mac' McMillan, 'Doug' Me When You Shop at Your CARLOAD FOOD MARKET Lose fo | Port Lineup was Pitcher Bill Beare, Catcher Hamm, 1st base B. Lee, 2nd base G. McMillan, 3rd base S. Foster, Short Stop G. Powell, C. outfield W. Draper, L. outfield I. Lytle, R. out- field, J. MacMaster, R. outfield, R. Ballard and Dale Beare. Next game Thursday night at 8.16, July 12th, against Oshawa at Perry. Millan, and 'Pete' Fish almost insig- nificant, One of McMillan's hits was a left-centre 'Doug' round-tripper and Jim Fishley had to settle for a triple, when he rattled a drive off a fence post in right-centre. The shell-shocked Lindsay pitchers respectfully requested, that their names be omitted from the write-up; therefore, in respecting the wishes of the handicapped, we have complied with the request. Unfortunately, there are no home games this week at Sonya, but the Braves play at dra place Fenelon Falls and 2nd place Little Britain. Those vesults will be in next week's paper. Squirts Win Second Straight Squirts won their second straight Softball game. It was a 35-9 win over North Oshawa Park at Oshawa. The winning pitcher was Ken Irvine, Jim Moore pitched the last 2 mnings. Ron Phinney had two home runs, Jim Moore and Brian McNab, . each to lead the Port attack. one Next game for the Squirts will be held on Tuesday, July 17th at the be at 6:15 p.m, with Storie Park from Oshawa being the visitors.
