Catholic Enquiry and Study Group The third session was held on Wed- nesday, November 7th, when Father Mous gave a talk on the origin, con- tent and purpose of the Bible. We were pleased to welcome new faces to the classes but hope that people will attend regularly to reap benefit from the continuity of the lessons. Each had free will and his own individual style but was enabled to write the truth by divine guidance. The Bible does not purport to be a scientific treatise but is the story of man's relationship to his Creator, the meaning and purpose of his existence. The Canon of the Old Testament gives him the Mosale Law on which our civilization is founded and the testimony of the Pro- phets; the New Testament reveals more fully God's plan for man's etern- al salvation with the Incarnation, Death and Ressurrection of Jesus Christ. i The Bible alone is -net to be re- garded as an infallible authority, but is the "guide book" of the Catho- lic Church who derives her power to teach and interpret from Christ Him- self through His Apostle. The early Church only accepted texts which were unimpeachably orthodox and which could adduce the authority of an Apostle who were the true wit- nesses of Christ. The origins of Christianity were thus preserved from legend and superstition and remained SR NE IER 'Ted Jackson Appliances Dates 25¢ JLUES - 2ford Sc 2fr75c¢ 20-0z, Tins 2:67. Pouch Pak 2:37.
