From that point of view, the Catlolic parents and school authorities are asking for an equal share of public funds in relation to the number of pupils to this Cath- olic Public School. This is a very logical consequence. It will be under- stood, that public funds have been formed through the direct taxpaying public and through corporatian taxes etc., which are in reality indirect pub- lic taxes. There is no question of segregation. At His Headquarters SAT., DEG. 15, 1.00 -- 5.00 p.m. with CANDY, GIFTS and a VISIT with EVERY CHILD ALSO 3 more GRAND PRIZES . TICKETS AVAILABLE AT ANY STORE 1. Solaray Electric Blanket 2. Sunbeam Electric Toaster 3. Deluxe Barometer it is only a matter of expressing the freedom in a democracy in regard to | education. Is not the basic rule in a | democracy the right to be different? ' Convinced Catholic parents sincerely believe, that the best education for their children is in a. Catholic public school. There the Catholic faith and morals can be taught as an integrated part in a person's life. The whole atmosphere differs from the general public or may be better than the neutral or common school. To make a comparison between the discussions in Quebec and Ontario are lacking all ground. The whole ar- gument in Quebec refers to the use or change of certain methods and textbooks within the school system. It is not a fundamental school question at all. To talk about matters in the nineteenth century in France compared with todays problem in Ont. ario is just plainly ridiculous. It would be very advisable for tha editor to read and study the quoted Bishops letter more entirely. I am sure, he would be able to give a more honest opinion and publicity to the community, Interested. L. Taylor. EDITOR'S NOTE -- The Separate Schools have their own Board and their own Inspectors, but do have tb meet certain standards of the Depart- ment of Education. In communities where there is a separate school the tax payer has a right to pay school taxes to the school of his choice. PHO Winners Mrs. Lloyd Wallace, Port Perry . Laurie Boyce, Port Perry Dec.
