That last | one, number four, makes all the rest | rather unimportant, Love is about the most important thing in the world, I suppose. Books have been written about it. Some writers claim that if you could love Dr. Dymond with mem Government Central Laboratory nerve centre of Ontario's laboratory system. Dymond Discusses Health in Ontario ss ht Photo--Ontaric Dept of resith bers of staff at Ontario The Laboratory Branch Matthew B. Dymond, MD, CM. Ontario Minister of Health Ontario Public Health Labora: tory Service is health bacteriology of water, milk and concerned with community in sanitary public eating places, performed for medical ofticers of health in auchan, county and rural areas. It is alzo concerned with the health of the individual and many types of lalioratory tests are performed for practising phy sicfans fectious dizeares, but alo 10 out of-hospital diagnosic and treat. ment of other conditions of ill. health, The Laboratory Branch of the Department of Health consists of | the Central Lab in Toronto, to-| gether with twelve regional lab- | oratories and five associated lab oratories providing area service. | A technician training centre is located at the Central Labora tory. Approximately 35 students take the course each year, study- ing both academic and practical courses, A student enrolled may receive bursary assistance while he is in training, Approximately 9097 of he work done in the laboratories is provided free of charge. An in dividual may have his well water tested at no cost, by tending a tample ta the lab. Individuals | citizen related not only to in I keep Ontario » healthy province may not realize that they benefit indirectly through the number of free tests that are perfonued for them when their doctors or medi. cal officers of health send samples and specimens to the lab, There i# no charge 10 the doctor, and consequently to the patient tw this work. The Central work in racing chemistry, Saliva Laboratory does ind other camples from race horses are examined upon re quest in the event of uny ques. tions raised at the track as to a horse's performance, Approximately 30¢; of all lub work done in Outario is carried out by the Laboratory Branch, Of this, half is done by the Cen tral Laboratory and the other half by the regional and asso ciated laboratories across ths Province, The services provided by this Branch are an important tool in public health. Examinations of specimens are made for tuber culosis, typhoid, Asian influenza, syphillis to name but a few, along with tests for bacteriology of water and milk. The reports thus received by medical officers of health, family doctors and other concerned agencies help your Department of Health to in which to live 26/11/62 everybody, you would never have an ulcer or a headache, Another asserts that virtually every creative act springs from love, whether it be a poem or a well-plowed field, or a beautifully-designed bridge. And they aren't talking only or even chiefly about romantic love that makes you all trilly inside; they mean love in that larger sense of understanding and compassion between men. Most of us go along with anything good that is sald of love. Most of us wish there were more of it. Then should we pass a Taw? I sup- pose we could; we have laws these days about everything else under the sun, Trouble is love is a voluntary emotion or state of mind. It cannot be legislated. You can't steal it from LHE FORT PERRY STAR, THURS, DECEMBER 27th, 1962--5 those who have it and give it to those who haven't (if you could, believe me some political party would have it in the platform!) How does one achieve this wonder- ful state of mind? Don't ask me. I think Franny might be on the right track, though. Include everybody. If you can bring yourself to love some of those you've been feuding with, you'll find it mighty easy to love that good neighbour . . , and yourself!
