Fire Area #1, gave the following re- port of Fire Area #1 for 1962. We responded to 43 alarms during the year, an increase of 14 over 1961 and our total figure for losses is $15,899.00 or $56.11 per capita. Our Mutual Aid activities consisted of two calls for assistance from Brougham and two from Garrard Rd. Fort Perry responded to one call from our Department. On July 11th, our Department was inspected by a representative of The Canadian Underwriters Association. As a result, the Council has received a letter from the C.U.A. making cer tain recommendations which, in my opinion, cannot be implemented in the foreseeable future, Our 1962 inspection program was limited to School Inspections. These were carried out on October 18th and were generally satisfactory and I feel that the recommendations for im- provements will be carried out. We plan to complete our Township In- spections in 1963. S. Carter, Building Inspect- or reported that there were more building permits issued for 1962 than for 1961. Roberts informed Council that free ice time at the arena has been given to the School children, which in the past has been supervised by the teachers, as it is included as part of their curriculum.
