So there should be some interesting plans ready for the next U.C.W. meeting. Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Boe left for Florida on Jan. 31st. We wish them a happy vacation. Hog Producers Meet at Beaverton The annual meeting of the Ontario County Hog Producers' Association was held in the Town Hall, Beaverton, on Tuesday, January 29th, at 11.00 a.m. Mr. Clare Curtin, Zone Director, Mr. Eldred Aiken, Chairman, and James Boynton, Secretary-Treasurer, all from the Provincial Hog Produ- cers' Marketing Board, spoke to the meeting. Mr. Curtin reviewed the clauses of the proposed new constitution. At the conclusion of his discussion, a new constitution was adopted for the Ontario County Group. Mr. Eldred Aiken outlined some of the work carried out by the Marketing Board during. the year. He stated that many people from other countries visited the Toronto Office of the Hog Producers to see for themselves the Mr. James Boynton outlined the grants that are available to each County Hog Producers' Association. He said that there was still a long way to go as far as hog quality was concerned, and he encouraged the Ontario County Group to sponsor as many projects as possible that would encourage an increase in the quality of hogs marketed, The election of committeemen, held under the direction of Agricultural Representative, Lynn Fair, resulted as follows: Gordon Taber, Brooklin Anson Gerrow, Port Perry, R. 3 George Davidson, Blackwater, R, 2 Lloyd Wilson, Ashburn, R. 1 Grant Windatt, Gamebridge Vyse Westcott, Beaverton George Gowanlock, Orillia, R. 6 The winners were announced for the Ontario County Hog Quality Compe- tition as follows: Championship Trophy for the high- est percentage of Grade "A" hogs marketed during the year -- won by Douglas Harder with 85.69% grade A. The Championship Trophy was a sil- ver tray donated by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Port Perry. Other prize winners were-- George Davidson, Blackwater,--79.7% Grade A,, and Harry Furniss, Brechin with 71.3% Grade A.
