Mrs. M. Bruce, the Group leader, opened with a call to worship and followed by Hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth", Mrs, E. Butt led in prayer. Mrs. A. Bruce read the Scripture passage. Mrs. G. Wana- maker used the 2nd chapter of "The Word and the Way", as a Bible Study, this being the story of the creation, She brought out very forcefully that God was the creator of all, and any- thing man makes is just using the materials created by God. Mrs. E. Clements reviewed the 2nd chapter of "On Asia's Rim," and with the aid of a map outlined the area, with its size and population, that we would be studying. Hymn "From all that Dwell Be- neath the Skies," closed the devotions, Mrs. Bruce thanked all who had taken part and turned the meeting over to the President Mrs. R. Reyn- olds. The minutes of the last meet. ing were read and adopted. Four more members joined, and three ladies contributed to the Birthday Box. The General and Supply Collections were received. The Layette Shower was a great success, a lot of lovely articles were received, as well as a good cash donation toward the fund. On motion of Mrs, C. Tait and Mrs, G. Stone it was agreed to send $6.00 a month to Mrs, L, Dickson, for Kin. EE cL dergarten Teacher, in Formosa. It was also carried to pay the caretaking and organist, as in previous years. A Daffodil Tea was discussed and a Committee of Mrs, Cliff Short, Mrs. C, Tait, Mrs. B, Wanamaker, Mrs. M. Bruce, Mrs, W. Keen and the Presi- dent Mrs. Reynolds were asked to set the date and work out the details. Decided to hold the World's Day of Frayer on March 1st. Mrs. McNeil to contact a speaker if possible. Moved by Mrs. D. Leslie, seconded by Mrs. Tobin that we have a Kitchen Shower for Mrs. D. Ashmore Friday evening, Feb. 22nd being the suggest- ed date. Shower to be held in the S. School Room, the community is asked to assist in this effort, Mrs. C. Short presented three lovely aluminum 'tea pots, to the church, which were purchased with the money left from the community parties, which have been given up, since we no longer have the school. Hymn "The Day Thou gavest Lord", and the Mizpah Benediction closed the meeting. While lunch was being pre- pared Mrs. B. Wanamaker conducted a Valentine Flower Contest. A lunch was served in keeping with Valentine Day. Mr. Gordon Sweetman had a very successful sale of garage equipment and supplies, on Saturday. A large crowd gathered and fair prices were realized. - The North Group of the U.C.W. also did well with their coffee, hot dogs and pie. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scott were guests at the Annual Masonic Ladies Night, in Port Perry on Saturday evening. The February meeting of the St. John's Presbyterian Woman's Mis- sionary Society was held at the home of Mrs. George MacPhaden, North St. on Tuesday, February 12th. Mrs. Grant Christie conducted the meeting which began with the read- ing of a poem and the singing of the hymn "Lord, Thou Lovest A Cheerful Giver". The Study for the day took the form of a Panel Discussion on Korea under the leadership of Mrs. Buntain, Con- venor, Mrs. Bentley, and Mrs. Mac- Phaden. Questions were asked by the members of the Society. The meeting concluded witn a brief worship service in which Mrs. Hunter, Mrs. MacPhaden, and Mrs. Buntain took part. Catholic Women's League Tuesday Evening, February 12th, the Catholic Women's League met in the Parish Hall for their regular monthly meeting. Convener reports were given and several items of busi. ness taken care of including a motion to purchase new chairs for the Parish Hall.
