The members of Unit No. Seven | and their friends spent a very enjoy- able evening on Tuesday, April 23rd, when Mrs. Harold Martyn presented pictures from her stereo collection, in the Sunday School room at the church. Mr. David Godley provided suit- able musical accompaniment through- out from tape recordings. The slides included local taken at different seasons. Autumn was depicted by the glow- ing colours in the tress; Winter by ice formations and activities at the lake; Spring and Summer by the many varieties of flowers and the young animals. scenes Many events of interest were re- corded including fireworks, New Year's eve, Birthday and Hallowe'en parties, Weddings, an auction sale and the public school ice carnival. The pictures concluded with the showing of a colourful sunset in pro- gressive stages. Mrs. George Burnett, the leader of the "unit, thanked Mrs. Martyn and presented her with a token of appre- ciation. Refreshments were served. LAKEFRONT It seems too bad that persons or persons cannot let the life belts that have been placed at the lake front in boxes for the safety of persons falling into the water, that they might save a life. a C. of C. to Hold "Farmers Night" Dr. John Price, Chairman of the Entertainment Committee, announced to-day that the local Chamber of Commerce is planning a "Farmers 'Night Dinner" for the night of May 16th. In past years the "Farmers Nights" have proved very successful as it "gives the Business Men of Port Perry an opportunity to have as their guest local farmers with whom they have been doing business over the years. A Speaker whose topic will be of interest_to both groups has been con tacted jand will be available for this evening. Further details regarding the Guest Speaker will be released next week at which time the Tickets will go on sale. Guide Mothers' Auxiliary The monthly meeting of the Guide Mothers was held on April 28rd at the home of Mary Baird with 20 ladies present. The President opened the meeting by gvelcoming the members, in parti- cular three new ladies, Mrs, Mac Christie and Mrs. Currie from Man- chester and Mrs. Stan (lass, one of our Brownje Leaders. Ruby Roach reported on two pro- jects which had been carried out to buy two much needed tents for the Girl Guide Camp. The dance which the Guides held and the sale of Eas- ter Eggs by Captain Nelson's Guides. They sold 211 delicious and attractive eggs. A special vote of thanks was Donald and Ruby Roach for making the eggs. Mrs. Hall voiced her appreciation to the committee in charge of the Court Whist game held at the Scout Hall. We were very pleased with the success of the evening as well as over We would like to thank all who supported the Court Whist, the Easter Egg, and Cookie Pay projects, One of our phone conveners, Aud- rey Walsh, whose scrvices we have appreciated, plans to move from town and Teresa Hall will take her place on the phone committee Much discussion took place cerning the arrangements and dates, ete., for the Mother and Daughter Banquets, It was finally decided that the banquet for the 3rd Guide Comp any, 3rd Brownie Pack und Rangers would be held at the Anglican Church on Wednesday, May 15th, with the Col fant for thé given to Dorothy Nelson, Lillian Me-: ladies of the Church catering. Women's Hospital Auxiliary The April meeting of the Auxiliary was held at the Hospital on Monday afternoon, April 22nd, the President, Mrs. M. B. Dymond, presiding. We were very pleased to welcome several ladies who were formerly as- sociated with us, and also some new members, We need the help of every organization in our community, and April meeting encouraged ns for the project now ahead of us, i.e. con- trbuting half the cost of piping oxy- suction into most of the ut the Hospital. Sunday, May 12th, is Hospital Day in Ontario, and our Board decided that would be a good day to celebrate the tenth anniversary of our Hospital, We know May 12th is Mothers' Day, but that should not deter the public from making a short visit to the Hos- pital between the hours of two-thirty and five o'clock and seeing personally the great strides we have made dur- ing the ten years we have been in ex- istence. Refreshments will be served by the Auxiliary members and we do hope the weather will be pleasant and that a great many people will encour- age us by their presence.
