The hall was daintily de- corated with- spring flowers, which improved the warm welcome as folk came'in from the cold rain and snow. Upon entering each one was greet ed at the door and a corsage pinned on each mother by Mrs. Ashmore. Also during the wonderful meal, two lucky draws were made. The win- ners were Mrs. Harry Grace, Burke- ton and Mrs. Robt. Ford, Blackstock. 18 Messengers and two leaders met in the C. E. room on Tuesday for the last meeting of the term. The first part of the program took the form of gd graduation ceremony for five Mes- sengers who are graduating into the sxplorer group. The Explorers par- ticipated in this ceremony. Then Lynda Kyte read a story about an African boy. A letter was read ac- knowledging the receipt of a parcel by the Vancouver Overseas Relief De- pot. This parcel was sent by the Messengers to be forwarded to a Korean boy and gir! and consisted of school supplies. Approximately $20. was realized from the gift boxes and offerings and was presented to the M. & M. treasurer at church last Sunday to be used for the Severance Hospital in Seoul, Korea. The meet- ing closed with races and games out- doors. Fourteen Explorers and their two leaders met last Tuesday after school for their final meeting of the term. At the graduation ceremony, the fol- lowing five Messengers were received in Explorers--Janet Turner, Heather Dorrell, Michael Wheeler, Richard Gunter and Barry Malcolm. After the closing ceremony games were en- joyed. The 0.N.O. Club met at the home of Norma VanCamp Thursday evening with 19 members present. The roll call was well answered with "A spe- cial wish for my child". President Gwen Ballingal conducted the busi- ness. The club are very grateful to all who donated so generously to the Cancer Society canvas, Proceeds of which were $302.60. Ten dollars was voted for equipment to help get a girls' Softball Team started in this area. The signs at each end of the village are to be refinished. The club will sponsor a baking con- test for Junior girls at the Fair, on August 24th. : A lively game of Court Whist was played with high winners Gwenith Thompson and Noreen Malcolm and low count Edith McLaughlin and Kathleen Dorrell. Lunch was served by the hostess and group. Sympathy is extended Mrs. Wesley Bradburn on the death of her sister Mrs. Frank Webber, Bowmanville on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brad- burn, Mrs, Lewis Henry, Mrs. John Wotten, Mr, and Mrs. Lorne Griffin, Mr. Melville Griffin visited at the Nortcott & Smith Parlors Friday or attended the funeral Saturday.
