14--PORT PERRY STAR, THURS, DEC. 19th, 1963 Elect Wm. Thompson, Pickering President Of Ontario Riding P.C.'s Wm. Thompson, Pickering Township, was elected to suc- ceed Ab Walker of Oshawa as President at the Ontario Riding Conservative Association's An- nual Meeting held recently, Mr, Walker now represents Oshawa Riding in the Ontario Legislative Assembly as a re- sult of his victory in the last provincial elections, More than 200 people, all members of the Association, crowded the Legion Hall for the elections and to hear Mike Starr, MP for Ontario Riding and Eldon Williams, MP for Bow River, Alberta Riding. Mr. . Williams was the guest speak- er at the event. Mr. Thompson won the presi- dency in a three-way fight wit Oshawa alderman Tom Rundle and perennial campaign-chair- man Bob Nicol. F. Mr. Nicol and Mr. Rundle were both elected Vice-Presi- dents as was Mrs. Hugh Nichol of Whitby and Stewart Mac- Farlane of Port Perry. Bill Newman of Dunbarton was chosen as one of the dele- gates to the Annual Federal Convention in Ottawa on Feb. 3, 4, and 5, 1964. It was de- cided that the president, Mr. Thompson, would be the other voting delegate. Mrs, Edith Bedell, President of the Ajax Association, and Mrs. Kay Wetherall were select- ed as alternate delegates. Oshawa attorney Ernie Marks was re-elected secretary of the Association by acclama- tion, as was Treasurer Mrs. Bedell. The auditors, Edward Ryzek of Whitby and Gordon Riehl of Oshawa, were also returned.
