8--PORT PERRY STAR, THURS, JAN. 2nd, 1964 - Prince Albert News By Mrs. Les Beacock At church on Sunday all re-| ceived a worthwhile message from the pastor Rev. E. S. Lin- stead. A vocal solo by Mr. B. Snelgrove added much to the musical part of the service. At S. S. Supt. Mr. E. Mar- tyn hoped all had a pleasant holiday and voiced New Year greetings. He also expressed the genuine work on the part of executive and teachers dur- ing the last year. Birthday pins were presented to Mrs. B. Smith, Mrs. L. Beacock, Don Beacock and Mary Skinner. We are pleased to announce that Mr. Alvin Hunter is home from the hospital. He spent a few days with his daughter the Heayns family. Dec. 18, the U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. Hector Hodgins with eighteen mem- bers. It was pleasant to have two visitors Mrs. Ron Middie- ton and Mrs. Findley. Devo- tion was arranged in keeping with the seasonal theme when several members aided in an impressive candle lighting cere- mony. Mrs, Jeffs in her order- ly fashion delivered a meaning- ful message from which all benefitted. A vocal duet ren- dered by Mrs. A. Martyn and Mrs. W. Heayn proved an extra to the devotion period; also Mrs. B. Jeffs and Mrs. G. Hun- ter's vocal number, The presi- dent Mrs, Pugh took over, wel- comed everyone and continued into business. At this time an honour was paid one of our loyal members, Mrs. B. Jeffs, who will be de- parting from our midst. A fit- ting address was read by Mrs, A. Martyn, after which presi- dent Mrs. Pugh presented a gift to Mrs, Jeffs who in turn ably found words to express a warm and sincere thank-you for the remembrance (cup and saucer). Lunch was served by Mesdames Lindsay, Snelgrove, Pugh and Beacock. Sunday evening prior to Christmas, the church sanctu- ary was well filled with inter- ested folk who attended the special service, "Nativity Page- ant" and Lord's Prayer in candlelight.
