The "Word and the Way" study group met at the home of Mr .and Mrs. Glen Till on Sun- day evening. Mr. Oscar Real of Regina spent _a few days last week with his sisters, Mrs. Pearl Phoenix and Mrs. Robt. Brandon and his brother, Mr. Fred Real. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bagshaw of Toronto were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Somerville on Saturday. Congratulations "to Mr. and Mrs. Grant Menzies on the ar- rival of another boy. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kirby of Stouffville visited Mr. and Mrs. Len Jarvis on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Meek of Sandford at Ralph Dusty's on Sunday. One of the first traffic fata- lities of 1964 in Toronto was Mrs. Moore, the former Miss Lucy Stone who was born and raised in this community. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stone and sister of the late Dr. Ray Stone of Toronto. -- Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hunter with Scarboro friends last Wed- nesday. : Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lee and Debbie spent the week-end at Hepworth and Mrs. Gordon Walker and children returned with them for a visit 'with rela- tives here. Mrs, C. L. Wilkinson of Ham- ilton was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Ianson, over the week end. ee Mr. Stewart Ball was a Sun- day guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Smith. Sorry to report that Mr. Mel McGee is confined to his home |- through illness. Mr. T. C. Miller of Moose- Jaw, Sask. was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. F. Beare last week. Baird of Sunderland spent a few days last week. with relatives at Hamilton and Burlington. * Obituaries MILTON LEWILN GROVES On Wednesday, Jan. 1964, Milton Lewiln Groves died in Seagrave. came to Seagrave and built a emall home. He was in his 80th Year. Soptesm- Milton Groves was born at Port Hoover, in Mariposa, and spent his boyhood in that com- munity. He married Flossie DeShane of Little Britain. They settled in Little Britain and he worked with Messrs. in' the summer, in the lumber mill in winter. When his family were young he moved to Toronto and work- ed with a Cement and Pipe Co., and later as a night fireman at a downtown factory until his retirement. His wife predeceased him, also a daughter Lorraine and a son Claude. Left to mourn his passing are two daughters Verna, Mrs. M. Kaeppel of Buffalo, N.Y., Bea- trice, Mrs. H. Wilson, of Tor- onto, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also one brother Claude of Tor- onto and a sister Flossie also of Toronto. ' The funeral was held on January 11th from the McDer- mott-Panabaker Funeral Homa in Port Perry. Rev. Linstead of Port Perry United Church conducted the service. ROBERT MOASE The death of Robert Moase, 322 Jarvis street, occurred at the Oshawa General Hospital Sunday, Jan. 19. He was in his 78th year and had been in fail- NR SIRE - SAN AF Ed Vow Mr. Moase Was born at Fin- gerboard, Ont. He is survived by his wife, the former Lucy James. The deceased was employed in the paint shop of General Motors of Canada until his re- tirement. Mr. Moase was a member of Northminster Unit- ed Church and was also a mem- ber of Warriner Lodge, No. 76, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, at Port Perry. He also leaves one daughter, Mrs. Frank Reader (Grace) of Oshawa and a sister, Miss Flor- ence Moase, of Whitby. Three brothers also survive, William and Morley of Port Perry and Arthur of Scarborough. Mr. Moase was predeceased by his first wife, Laura Moase, in 1948. He was also prede- ceased by a sister, Frances, and a brother, Leslie. The remains was at the Ger- row Funeral Chapel for the funeral in the chapel Wednes- day, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. The service was conducted by Rev. H. A. Mellow, of Northminster United Church.
