H, Holtby The March meeting of the U.G:W. was held at tho hepgof Mrs. Mosienko on Thursday evening, 13th, with a good at- tendance. Mrs. Everett Kerr assisted her mother receiving the guests. Marion Webster opened the meeting with the motto and hymn, "O Spirit of the living God", followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. Mrs. Dearborn read the 23rd Psalm. Marion read Lesson Thoughts on "Our Hope", con- cluding with prayer. Tot Holt- by read an interesting letter from our missionary friend in Africa, Miss Ruby Wilson. The Meditations were concluded with the hymn "Lord, from the depths to Thee I cried". The president, Lucille Gray, welcomed everyone, including our friends from Shirley and Port Perry and chaired the bus- iness session. There were the regular reports and correspond- ence. We are grateful for several donations from local merchants and others, towards! the bazaar, to be held in May. Mrs. Vernon had a message from Mrs. Durham, of Hamil- ton, whom she had contacted! lately. Articles for the bale] for Norway House will be re- ceived at the March meeting. Theme Song and Prayer closed | this period. There was a Bible. Quiz which was won by Mrs. Roy Robert- son. Materials were set out to make valentines, which were all quite pretty. Mrs. Walter Booth received the prize. As- sistant tea hostesses, Lucille Gray, Marion Webster and Mrs, Dearborn served tasty salad plate luncheon. "Mystery Sis- ter" Valentines were exchanged at the close of a very enjoyable evening. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vernon, in company with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Holliday, of Toronto, vi- sited relatives in New -York State and Buffalo, recently. The Misses Barbara Holtby and Suzanne MacMaster spent last week-end at Queen's Uni- versity, Kingston, the guests of Miss Bonnie Wallace. Mr. and Mrs. Burnsell Web- ster spent a recent week-end in Ottawa at the home of her sis- ter, Mr, and Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Hopkins. Mr. and Mrs. Smitherman of Brooklin celebrated their forty- second wedding anniversary on Feb. 14th at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Smither- man, Susan and Ruth. Mrs. Bruce Holtby returned to Prospect School, as teacher, for a couple of days recently. She had taught here in 1942. Mrs. Hollingworth with her granddaughter and husband of Toronto, were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Burnsell Webster and family. Mrs. Ted Legge's mother of Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island is viting her this week. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Irwin and Dale and Mrs. Booth of Port Perry were gudsts of Mr, and Mrs. Garnet Booth of Toronto, one day last week.
