Ontario Province Will Participate In World Fair Toronto, March 4--The Pro. vince of Ontario will participate in the 1967 Canadian World Fair at Montreal as part of the ceremonies marking Canada's 100th birthday, it was announ- ced today by Premier John Ro- barts. ~ Mr, Robarts told the Ontario legislature that the province will. provide a major exhibit whieh will likely take the form of a pavilion or a temporary building erected only for the life of the Fair. "This pavilion will be design- ed to advertise Ontario as a _ good place in which to live, in which to do business and which to visit", 'Mr. Robarts said. Mr, Robarts said that many of the visitors will come from the United States, and Ontario "might very well expect to play host to millions"; Highways 401 and 400, with their connecting links, will pro- vide rapid access to and from the Quebec border into the po- pulous states of Michigan, Illi- nois, Ohio, New York and Penn- sylvania. By 1967 it will also be possible to connect with the Mississippi Parkway at Fort Frances and with a whole net- work of American roads and centres of "population through the new International Bridge at Sault Ste, Marie. The meeting today is being chaired by the Canadian Cor. poration for the 1967 World Exhibition. Attending are re- presentatives from all the pro- vinces and the federal govern- ment. Mr. Robarts said that the meeting will provide a compre- hensive technical briefing to the provincial representatives so they can report the latest find- ings to their respective govern- ments. Ontario's participation in the World Fair was discussed at the provincial premiers' confer- ence held last summer in Hali- fax. Subsequently, the Depart- ment of Economics & Develop- ment prepared a report on the Fair which was presented to the Ontario cabinet last October.
