Also a letter from the Dept. of Agriculture and a let- ter of thanks for the donation to girls ¢lub work. Decided to send the District Director to the Officers conference at Guelph in May. Mr. Anson 'Taylor, Scarboro is to show pictures of his trip to Russia, April 24th. Mrs. Lorne Thompson report- ed on the recent millinery course. Next meeting is to be a pot luck luncheon at 12.30 p.m., April 1st in the Commun. ity Hall, followed by the An- nual meeting. W. I. are to save C.P. labels to secure a coffee maker. A letter from the High School was read stating they plan to cele- brate the 30th anniversary of the first settler in Cartwright 'on or about May 20th and ask- ing for antiques to be loaned for that time. : The Motto--Good Community Spirit is like baseball, it takes team work--was ably dealt with by Mrs. George Skelding. Roll call was answered by--A com- munity need. A review of the Duties of her office was then given by each retiring officer. Mrs. Kenneth Samells read a poem entitled "Women's Insti- tute answers' that was written by Mrs. Roy Langmaid, Solina in 1937. "Hymn of all Nations" "The Queen" and "The Institute Grace" was sung, after which the group served a delicious lunch and a half hour of visit- ing was enjoyed. Prize winners at the L.0.B.A. euchre Wednesday night: High lady -- Mrs. Hector Shortridge; low lady--Mrs. Percy VanCamp. The Explorers met Tuesday after school in the Sunday School room with eight mem- bers present, Beth Dunsmoor assisted Mrs. Romeril with the Worship by reading the Scrip- ture passage. The mission study on India was continued. - There were good congrega- tions in both churches Sunday morning. "Mothering Sunday was observed in St. John's and Rev. C. C. Harcourt of London England gave an excellent ser- mon from the theme of The -Cross:~ Canon- Ashmore conduc- ted the service. In the United the choir sang an anthenmi~"Why Should He love me so?" Rev. Romeril took as the theme for his sermon "The Humility of God". ~. Mr, and Mrs. Mervin Mount- joy, Hampton were Saturday supper guests of Mr. and Mus. Kenneth Samells. Miss Elaine Mountjoy, King- ston, spent the week-end at home. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Graham, Millbrook - ,were Sunday dinner guesst of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McLaughlin. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Larmer, Pickering were Sunday visitors of Mrs. Alma Fowler. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Larmer and boys attended a 50th wed- ding anniversary of her Uncle and Aunt at Fullarton Satur- day and spent the weekwend with relatives. Mrs. A, E.
