Kelly managed what they feel is the largest single liabil- ity judgment in the history of Ontario County at Supreme Court Assizes here recently. The two counsels teamed up to convince a six-man Petit Jury to award Carol Fralick of R.R. 1, Port Perry $63,750 for losses resulting from an accident that occurred in 1960. The girl, now 20, was struck down while running across 1960 Accident found that Robert Cain, pre- sently of Peterborough, and then a resident of Myrtle Sta- tion, the driver of the car that struck Miss Fralick, was 85 per cent negligent. In a separate suit for medi- cal expenses, the girl's father, Kenneth Fralick collected $2,- 927.67, or 85 per cent of the mutually-accepted figure of $3,444.20. FIREMEN ATTEND TWO FIRES Basement After a relatively quiet win- ter as far as fires are concerned the Port Perry Fire Brigade was called out to two fires this week. The first call came in on Sun- day night when a fire had start- ed in the basement of Mr. J. Durward's home on 13th Con. of Reach Township. The only damage to the place was to the basement joice and ceiling. * * * The second fire was of a more serious nature completely gutt- ing a farm home on Highway 7 and 12 at 6th Con. of Reach Township. The local firemen had to | battle the flames for almost five hours. Tuesday night be- fore they had the fire under control. . As far as can be determined it originated as a chimney fire, but spread rapidly completely gutting the dwelling. | Wiser Trophy To Scarboro Rink A Scarborough rink, skipped by Joe Hanson won the Wiser trophy at the Port Perry Curl- ing Rink last Saturday. In second place was Jerry Hunter's rink from Port Perry. The other members were Grace Hunter, vice skip, Gord Prentice second and Joyce Howsam, lead. In fourth place was another Port Perry Storey Beare, Rinks participating were from | Fenelon © Falls, Scarborough, Richmond Hill, Peterboro, Cam- eron, Orillia and Port Perry. On Friday and Saturday of this week a two-day Bonspiel sponsored by Beare Motors Ltd. will take place at the local rink. Two Week-End Car Accidents Involved in a car accident on Brock Road near Uxbridge Sun- day were Brian Smith, Hamil- ton and David Petrie, Scarboro. They suffered minor injuries, were treated at Cottage Hospi- tal, Uxbridge and later released. A Raglan woman escaped serious injury here early Sun- day morning when her conver- tible crashed against a cement bridge. : ~ Mrs. Myrna Audrey Burgess was released from Oshawa Gen- eral Hospital shortly after the 4 a.m. crash against the bridge which spans the Lyon Brook. Annual Carnival Friday, April 10 Monkeys! Zebras! Poodles!-- All these will be seen at the Fort Perry arena on April 10, at the sixth annual figure skat- ing carnival, The theme for the Junior part of our carnival this year is a Three Ring Cir. cus. There will be several big little strongmen, strutting white chested penguins, and a little baby tiger.. Not to be forgotten are two adorable baby elephants and one huge daddy elephant. All these ani- mals will be put in their places by a snappy little ringmaster. Plan now to attend this an- nual carnival. Tickets will be on sale shortly. Anna & Richard were guest skaters at the Orillia Ice Car- nival last week-end, Partici- pating in two evening shows and one matinee. Coming up for them is a special invitation to-skate at the Granite Club in Toronto, March 21st and the Oshawa Carnival on March 22. They are certainly a most po- pular pair -- many invitations have had to be refused.
