Goslin of Utica sponsored a surprise birthday party in Utica Com- munity Hall Th honor of his father, Mr. Milford Goslin of Janetville, on the occasion of his 75th birthday. As Mr. and Mrs. M. Goslin entered the hall they were gre- eted with the song "Happy Bir- thday to You" sung by their friends and relatives. A happy evening was spent in dancing, old time, and renewing old ac- quaintances, some of long stan- ding. Around midnight the guests adjourned to the basement where the tables were set up, laden with goodies served by the ladies of Utica. A lovely birthday cake to mark the oc- casion graced the head table, and was cut and passed by the guest of honor, at which time John Goslin read a short ad- dress of birthday - congratul- ations. Mr. Heber Down also added his best wishes. Gifts and cards were placed on the table by their grand- sons, Fred Howlett and John Goslin. The James Durward's had some excitement on Saturday afternoon when the pipes and the chimney from their funace became over-heated. It caused some damage in the basement as well as burning some hydro wires so they were without power for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Hoskin and David of Oshawa called on Mr. and Mrs. J. C. acTaggart recently. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wana- maker and daughters visited Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Tristram in Scarboro and attended Open House at Cedar Brae Collegiate. Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Boe joined relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Boe of Beaver- ton in celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary.
