McDonald, after which the warden Joan Peel presented sis. McDonald with a lovely floral spray. Sis. Mabel Disney, P.P.R.A. was presented by Sister Flossie Ploughman. Sister Grace Love D.D.P, of District #8 present- ed by Sister Marjorie Wana- maker. Lodge opened according to ritual. The guests passed thru a floral arch held by the guard of honour. Sister Luella Kennedy, P.D. D.P. had the honour of intro- Sister Ellen Hoff D.D.P. of District #8 Niagara Falls, N.Y. and her Marshall, Sister Helen Dunn, presented by Sister Myr- tle Rennick, Bro. Earl Geer, D.D.G.M. introduced by Mr. Glen Wanamaker, P.D.D.G:M. of District #41 The officers conferred the in- itiatory degree, and welcomed four new sisters to the lodge, and two sisters to the Port Hope lodge. Display Talents Sister McDonald congratulat- ed the ledge on their new hall and gave words of encourage, ment for the future. Using the old familiar words, 'it's not what you get out of your lodge, but what you put into it' Bringing the evening to a close the honour guard presented a drill symbolis with emblems, and a gift was resented to Sis. McDonald by Sis Georgina Moore, N.G. Lodge closed and a lovely lunch was served in the banquet hall. Sister McDonald was en- tertained at dinner prior to tte Lodge meeting Tue-day even- ing, at the home of Sister Ruby Beare. Thursday afternoon and even- Sis. The feature attraction of the evening was the outstanding performance of Anna Forder & Richard Stephens who delighted the audience with some of their routines which have helped them win two championships in Jun- ior competition and a runner-up position in Senior competition. Anna and Richard will be go- ing to Calgary next year to compete in the Canadian Cham- pionships. A fund has been started and an account opened Paper Drive Is Successful The' paper collections by the Boy Scouts last Saturday prov- ed to be very successful. Total weight for the paper collected was 14,200 lbs, or over seven This is up one ton from the Paper Drive held Saturday, February 13th, Paper collections are made around every three months and local residents are asked to -ave their old newspapers, cata- logues, magazines, ete. for this very worthy project. : the annual Port Perry Figure at the local Royal Bank to help | these youngsters with their ex- penses which will be very large. The opening number was a Circus with all the junior mem- bers participating. The circus was complete with a Ringmas- ter, Zebras, Tiger, Monkeys, Penguins, Balloon Sellers, Dum- bo the elephant, baby elephants, white and black poodles, Strong- men and Clowns, Ice Revue Spectacular Event structor at the club, did two solo numbers which proved his many talents. Miss Gale For- der also did a solo entitled "Swiss Miss". Gale also com- bined with David Porter in a number called the "Swiss Sweet- hearts". The "Mountain Climb- ers" was presented by David Porter, Richard Stephens and John Vernon. The local High School Gymn Squad displayed some of their talents during the evening. At the finale when all skaters were on the ice, one must agree that this annual event is worth waiting for and the club is to be congratulated for their much Mr. John Wild, who is the in- appreciated efforts. The Port Perry and District Minor Softball Assoc. held a meeting on Sunday, April 12th | to lay plans for the 1964 season. | Due to mailing problems a lot of members were not noti- 'fied but this matter will be cor- rected and all members will re- ceive the notice for the next meeting. The registration will be in the first week of May for all teams, Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget. Bantam Girls will again operate & all area teams such as Seagrave, Greenbank, Prince Albert and Blackstock should make plans now for the seasons opening which will come this 'year on June 1st, Local Softhall Association Meet Registration Starts On May 4th Plans are now well under way to operate a Bantam Boys league with clubs from Stouff- ville, Seagrave, Claremont, Ux- bridge and Port Perry already showing interest in a solid leg - (Continued on Page 13) The Ice Is Gone Ice on Lake Scugog finally left in the early hours of Tues- day, April 14th -- although a stiff breeze moved it to the far end of the lake. Viewed from the dock in Port Perry, however, the water is once again free of its winter's overcoat. Skating Ice Revue held in the arena last Friday evening. This pair have done extrem- ely well since they started skat- ing together and have appear: ed in many centres and have won the 11963 Central Ontario Novice Pairs Championship and the 1964 Inter-Club Jr. Pairs Championship and were runn- ers-up for the 1964 Central Ontario Senior Pairs Champion- ship. Cartwright H.S. Hold "At Home" The sixth annual Cartwright High .School's "At Home" dance was held on Friday, Apr. 10th. The recreation centre opened its doors to a fair at- tendance of students, past-stu- dents and parents. Music was by Charlie Cochrane's orchestra from Port Perry.
