"showing good early foot, fading at the half- way pole and coming on fast down the stretch". A' fast get- away appears to be a must for the Seagrave kids if they're go- ing to behave like whirlaway again this season. An encouraging sidelight, since the Angel's became a member of the Port Perry Min- or Softball Association, is that they'll not be left at the gate. They'll be off and running on April 25th. goining up against Seabiscuit-- or should I say, against better teams and tougher teams also. "It makes little difference to me" Don insisted, "whether we play the toughies at the start or not. You have to play 'em sometime." The schedule will get tougher, as we go along, but we'll play them one at a time, + The one thing the Seagrave 5 be as follows :-- * NOTICE ° DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME {Pursuant to resolution passed by Council on Monday, March 13th, 1964, dates for Daylight Saving Time for. the Village of Port Perry shall FROM 12:01 a.m. APRIL 26th, 1964 to 12:01 a.m. OCTOBER 25th, 1964. Attend Six-Day Conference In Nassau Nassau, Bahamas -- A record of continued good service to his community and the sustained support of his customers have earned Port Perry IGA dealer Jack Hope and his wife, Doreen, an expense-paid trip to Nassau in The Bahamas. Mr. and Mrs. Hope arrived in Nassau last week-end to attend a six-day IGA confer- ence on human relations and community service. The conference is sponsored by The Oshawa Wholesale Limited, Toronto, IGA supply. depot in central Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Hope were among several hundred IGA dealers and their wives who were flown to Nassau for the conference on two chartered Pan-American jets. They are participating in a series of sessions on human relations conducted by Dr. Lawrence Taylor, Vice-President of Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan, one of North America's outstanding authorities on the subject. The conference isn't all business, of course. are getting plenty of time to enjoy the Caribbean sun and the many forms of re- creation which have made The Bahama Is- lands a vacation paradise. According to IGA officials, the confer- ence is an advance study for LGA food market proprietors who are being recog- nized for continued exemplary service to their customers and 'dedication to the highest IGA principles." Mr. Hope, however, prefers to attribute the success of his business and this special recognition from Ohawa Wholesale to "the people back home, . They made this trip possible for us, through "steadfast support and loyalty. We are very grateful to our customers and hope to bring back many ~ ideas on how to serve them even better The IGA dealers and their wives. ~This "year, however, they're than before," he said.' -teams-are-eager-to-avoid-is-an- other disastrous slump, at the half-way in the schedule, but they came on strong to win seven of the last eight games to finish third. After a good showing in the play-offs, the Angels won a lot of fans and friends last year. Everything points to the An- gels holding their own at 'the start this spring. Our pitching will be better, with Doug Hughes and Bill Wanamaker having a year of experience. Jim Nightingale adds depth in| this department, giving us a stronger pitching staff. Our catching will be tougher, and will give us the added leader- ship we need. Murray also gives us the balance we need}: around the infield. With the pitching staff handling the first base position, Dale Hallett and Donald Harper along wth Eu- gene Hurst, Philip Elger gives us the balance we need in the infield. With our outfield intact, Brian Marquis, Raymond Whit- field and Ronald Crosier, will get help from Phil and Gene. There are some newcomers coming out this year, and they'll be--a-big-help-in-strengthening the Angels for 64. We here, the Angels of Seagrave, the Nonquon Valley "halos" hope to give their hometown fans as -well-ag -those-on--the road; fun and excitement, and an enjoy- able summer of summer sports.
