Holman BROOKLIN--Rev, J. McAl- lister, representative, the World Literature Crusade, was guest speaker at the regular services of worship, Sunday, April 26, at Meadowcrest Baptist Church. The World Literature Crusade has as its goal the placing of Christian literature and some portion of the Bible home in this entire world. * * * "Sowng Our Wild Oats in the Temple of the Holy Spirit" was | the title of the sermon concern- ing the seventh of the seven deadly sins, lust, as given by Rev. G. A. Mundy, Sunday, April 26, at the regular morn- ing service of worship in Brook- lin United Church. The Junior Choir, led by Mrs. G. Mundy sang Hymn 151, "As Comes the Breath of Spring". "O Lord Correct Me" -- Fri- cher was the anthem sung by the Senior Choir. BROOKLIN --- The regular monthly meeting of the United Church Women of Brooklin| United Church was held recent- ly, in the Christian Education in every | | | Mrs. G. Hunter, convener of the Community Friendship and Visiting Committee. Mrs. K. Holliday sang the solo, "To A Hilltop" -- Ralph Cox. Unit met at the home of Mrs. John Medland with an attendance of 24. Mrs. Ralph Milner led the worship and Mrs. John Hall led in the Study of Chapter 9, The Incarnate God, from the Word and the Way, Mrs. Milner entertained the ladies with some lively contests. "It Will Show You", was the Building of the Church. The theme of the meeting was Community Friendship and Visiting. Mrs. R, Thompson and Mrs. 'Hunter was hostess to the mem- reading given by Mrs. A. Jack- chose "Easter" for their theme. * * ¥ Friendship Unit met at the home of Mrs. D. Roberts. The devotional was taken by Mrs. R. Sonley. Mrs. Sonley phic account of the work of "The Layman in India" in the realms of agriculture and me- dicine. Many beautiful slides, taken by Miss Doreen Van Camp were shown, Arrangements were made for catering to the C.G.I.T. and Ex- plorer Banquet May 4th. The quilt committee reported that they have finished two quilts a month this year and have six more on hand to do. * * * Sunshine Unit. was entertain- ed at the home of Mrs. W. Fish- ley. Mrs. A. Wilson led in the study of Chapter 9 -- The In- carnate God, from the Word and the Way. Mrs. W. Routley gave the la- dies a short history of the painter Warner E. Sallman and the way he was inspired to paint /his famous paintings of son. * Ed 3 Faithful Workers--Mrs. Ralph bers of the unit. Mrs. Ralph R. Hodson, of the Friendship! Unit, led the devotional part of Hunter & Mrs. A. Cooper were BROOKLIN -- The members of the United Links Couples Club of Brooklin United Church and Mrs. Thompson gave a gra-, barrister of Oshawa, as their guest speaker for the regular April meeting. Mr. Dodds topic was "The Law and Your Fa- mily", Mr. Dodds suggested it would be worthwhile introducing a short course concerning "Our rights as a Citizen" into the high schools so that the public would know their basic rights in regards to contracts, ete. It was annpunced that the Club was now selling chocolate bars and chocolate coated nuts to help support their Foster Child, Son Soon Hi, a nine-year old Korean girl. Seagrave News On Saturday afternoon the U.C.W. of Seagrave, held their Spring Bonnet Tea, in the Church Parlour. Mrs, Eagle- son welcomed the 'ladies and opened the Bazaar and Tea Room. Those in charge were very happy to see so many la- dies present, from the surround- ing churches. The booths were well patronized, and those act- ing as salesladies, were kept very busy. The girls serving the tea tables did their charm- ing best. Everyone 'enjoyed helping to entertain the guests. The results in every way were' very gratifying. Mx. and Mrs, Reg, Cookman of Sunderland and Mr. Dan MacTaggart of Oshawa were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs, J. C. MacTaggart.
