Parade In Port Perry Under sunny skies, over 200 Cubs, Scouts, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Rovers paraded on Sunday afternoon last to the United Church for the first such combined service for all groups. The parade formed up on Water Street, North undér the very competent leadership of Parade Marshall, Rae Webster, | The High School Cadet Band, directed by John Jefford and commanded by Band - master Gary. Tummonds provided the necessary martial accompani- ment, as they led the parade.. It was very encouraging to see the throngs of interested peo- ple lining the parade route, to see the youth of Port Perry marching with their leaders in full uniform. On the reviewing stand to take the salute for the march past, were Mrs. H, T. Cook, Pickering, Central Area Guide Commissioner and Mr. R, Arn- old, of the Training Staff, Camp Samac, Oshawa, assisted by Mrs. Arnold Roach, Port Perry, Division Commissioner, and Gerald Nelson representing the Group Committee. Ago Mrs. Fred Hodgson (Isabell Hurd), Queen Street, Port Perry arrived at the Port Perry station from Yorkshire, Eng- land, 52 years ago. Mrs. Hodgson was one of eight to arrive at the same time. With her were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hodgson, their daughter Eva, Mr. Fred Hodgson, who she married three years later, her two brothers, Bob and Sydney and her sister Lilly. Mrs. Hodgson worked at the old Standard Bank in Port Perry for one year after arriving. .. All the others went to Scugog Island to work. She moved to Toronto where she was married in 1915. She has four sons, Hubert, Stanley, Harold and George, also eleven grandchildren and two great-grand- children. Mrs. Hodgson and her husband moved back to Port Perry in 1959. --Staff Photo Rev. T. R.
