Ci RIE ES C.W.L. News The Ontario County South Re- gional C.W.L. annual meeting was held in St, Gregory's Audi- torium, Oshawa on Thursday, April 23rd. Several members from Port Perry and Uxbridge were among those attending. Benediction was celebrated in St. Gregory the Great Church by Monsignor P. M. Dwyer at 7.30 p.m, after which members enjoyed a pot-luck supper in the basement hall of the Audi- torium. Tables were attractive- ly decorated with lamp candles of various colours and a wide- spread assortment of delicious food was served buffet style. Monsignor. Dwyer warmly wel- comed delegates to his parish and said grace. The business part of the meeting began with prayer! under the leadership of Father Gignac, the Spiritual Director of the Regional C.W.L. Council. Mrs. Wm. O'Connor, Regional Secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and Mrs. M. G. Coleman gave the Treasurer's report, Mrs. Wm. O'Connor also outlined the highlights of the last Executive meeting. He urged mem- bers to give full support and assistance to Pastors in teach- ing Catechetics to children in public schools. Mrs. Donovan, President of the Archdiocesan C.W.L. Coun- cil was not present but Mrs. Noble, Vice-president, address- ed delegates and requested them to offer up a Holy Rosary for world peace on Mother's Day, May 10th. She also urged them to attend the annual Conven- tion in the Royal York Hotel on May 14th. Father Gignac will present a Spiritual Worksho on the role of women in the modern lay Apotolate. Arch bishop Pocock will attend the luncheon. Father Gignac gave a talk on the need to increase member- ship in the C.W.L. and suggest- ed an initiation ceremony as a means of providing a more in. teresting and lasting impres- sion. Registration was the main concern and the Assoc. have laid the following plans. All boys from age of 7 to 21 years will be registered on Sat., May 2nd from 2 to 4 p.m. at the ball park; and then again on Monday May 4th from 7 to 8.30 p.m. at the ball park. It should be noted that all boys must reg- ister this year and a fee of one dollar per family will be charg- PORT PERRY STAR, THURSDAY, APRIL 30th, 1964 -- 5 ed to cover insurance, ete. House league teams will be made up in Squirt, Pee Wee & possibly Bantam. Greenbank has planned to operate Squirt and Pee Wee; Seagrave will operate Squirt and Bantam and Prince Albert who did not at- tend are thought to have Squirt, Pee Wee and a possible Bantam. Don Ashbridge representing Scugog Island has two possible clubs who would be welcomed into the Assoc. Pee Wee boys and Bantam girls. It is hoped that the people on the Island will get behind Don and give the boys and girls the chance to play softball. Bantam Girls will have a sep- arate registration which will be announced later. It appears at this time that the girls will once again come up with a strong league of possibly six teams. It was also agreed to send the Lions Club Bantam Team to the Preston Bantam Tourna- ment on Sat., June 27th. Next meeting will be called on Sunday May 10, 7.30 p.m. at the Avena.
