They were greeted at the entrance of the Masonic Temple, Port Perry, by their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jack Not- tingham, who pinned a gardenia corsage on the bride and a white carnation on the bridegroom. Some guests then entertained with a "Mock Wedding" in followed and later the couple were presented with a silver tea service from their family and a money tree from friends. Mr. and Volume 99 THURSDAY, MAY 21st, 1964 Number 34 Former Port Perry Resident Donates Books To Public Library Several packages of books dealing with many subjects have been received by our Pub- lic Library from the collection of a former Port Perry resident, Dr, Lloyd White. Dr. White, who lived in Port Perry from 1907 to 1910 and had many relatives in this dist- rict, is a graduate of Queen's, Columbia and Toronto Univer- sities. He has devoted many years of his life to teaching in Toronto High Schools. Now enjoying his retirement in Tor- onto, Dr. White has been dis- posing of a large personal lib- rary by making donations to his alma mater universities and to the Port Perry Public Lib rary. Dr. White has accompanied 'his donations with several let- ters which include recollections of Port Perry fifty years ago. books. This will be particular- ly effective in law libraries." Dr. White's brother, Ernest, and his sister, Mrs. Olive Bea- cock, live here in town at 16 Perry Street: South. Their grandfather, William Mills, built the old water tower at the top of the hill. Donations from Dr. White have been arriving for a year and a half, Mrs. Ingram re- ports. Kennedy, The American Way of Death by Mitford, and The Firebrand, a biography of William Lyon Mackenzie, by William Kilbourn. For students of science there is a colourful series compiled Cliff Redman Project Head The members of the Ontario County Pasture Committee met recently in the department of Agriculture office, Uxbridge, for the purpose of reorganizing a Pasture Project for 1964, and revising the rules and regula- tions, The pasture competition in Ontario County, and on a Provincial basis, will not be carried on this year. The object of the Pasture Project this year is to promote a better understanding and ap- preciation of the value of good pasture; and Pasture manage- ment. It is open to any farmer in Ontario County, and all fields pastured will be taken into consideration. There are 644 members in Zone F and 215 attended the Zone Rally. Mrs. Williams ex- pressed her appreciation of re- ports received, gave a resume of her own work and expenses for the past year; and thanked all Auxiliaries for co-operation and the welcome given to her when visiting. Hardball Season Opens May 27th| The opening ay of the Victoria Independent Baseball League._is. Wednesday, May. 27] at local Fair Grounds, when Fenelon Falls play Port Perry. Game time is 6.45. With the addition of several of last year's Merchant's Soft- ball players, and with one year's experience for many of our younger ball players, Port Perry should have a much stronger ball club for 1964.
