Mrs. Romeril opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Gor- don Paisley gave the worship based on the 145th Psalm, The Bible study and discussion on Acts 20 was led by Mrs. Har- old Kyte. Following the business period the meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer. The Dorcas Unit met at the home of Mrs. S. VanCamp. The leader Mrs. Walter Wright opened with a poem "Wise Thought" and following a hymn she led in prayer. The worship from 2 Cor. 5 and meditation entitled "He Lives and Loves" and prayer was given by Mrs. C. Hill. Mrs. Leith Byers dealt with and led the discussion on chapter 10 of The Word and the Way". Business was dealt with and meeting closed with hymn and prayer. The Anna Unit was held at Mrs. Ross Duff, with 13 ladies and 2 children present. Mrs. Samells led the call to worship and prayer and sang Hymn 21. Mrs. Skelding took chapter 1 of John 1-4 and 14- 18. Edith McLaughlin gave the Meditation and closed with the Lord's Prayer. Minutes read and adopted and offering re- ceived and dedicated. The roll call was well answer- ed with toys and clothes, also crib quilt for Mrs, Tonge. The ladies put an afghan to- gether while the meeting was in progress. Mrs. Samells gave out list of food, ete. for Spring Tea June 3rd. Church picnic is June 25th at 6.30. Next meeting at Mrs. Skelding, Mrs. Samells closed with prayer. Mrs. Duff served a dainty lunch and coffee. Mrs. Ivan Mountjoy was hos- tess for the Esther Unit on Wednesday evening. 10 mem- bers attended. Mrs. Bruce Mountjoy opened the meeting with two poems--"Dedication" and "What are you doing now ?" Glenn Larmer, Bill Ferguson, Bruce Mountjoy and Harold Martyn, after which groups were formed and above discuss ed and finding brought to whole unit, where Mrs. Larmer led the discussion and offered prayer. Mrs. Ferguson read the Serip- ture passage James 3 and led in prayer. The first four ver- ses of hymn 529 were read in unison and the last four verses sung. Mrs. Larmer read a poem "Works", and Benediction closed the meeting, after which lunch and gossip was enjoyed. 0.N.O. met at home of Dolly Lee with nineteen members , present. Eleanor Werry read ' letter from' Moffat's asking us to attend a cooking school at their plant in Weston in fall, Date to be decided later. Nancy | Bryans 'was given some useful things for her new son. We divided into 4 groups and wrote the weekly paper, after which it was read and caused some laughs. Dolly and her group served a delicious lunch. Next meeting June 18 at Eleanor Werry. At the United Church Sunday morning nine young people were received into full membership-- Linda Mountjoy, Lorraine Turn- er, Leanne Dorrell, Judith Mountjoy, John Larmer, Robert McLaughlin, Dennis Romeril, William Thompson and Robert Kyte. The choir sang an an- them "Swing Wide the Door for Him" and Rev. Romeril de- livered a fine sermon on 'The Secret Society". In the Anglican Church Can- on Ashmore's sérmon was on Trinity Sunday and how we can adapt it to ourselves. There were flowers in memory of Mar- jorie Needham. Also in both churches were flowers in mem- ory of Gordon Brown. St. John's W.A, met in the Parish Hall May 21st. Meeting opened with Pres. Mrs. H. E. Ashmore in the chair, After a hymn Mrs. John Hamilton gave the devotional with Whitsun- tide as the theme, and also gave the opening prayer. Treas. re- ported Mothers Day Supper a success. Members were remin- ded of the Deanery meeting in St. John's, Whitby, June 10th. Sec'y gave a report of the An- nual meeting in Toronto which she and Mrs, Ashmore attended. Sunshine sec'y reported on cards sent out. Three members who have been ill were able to at- tend the meeting. "Little Helpers" sec'y reported two Birthday cards sent and a new "Helper" has arrived at Don Greens. "Dorcas" Sec'y read a news letter sent out by the Diocesan Sec'y. It was decided to have two bake sales at Caesarea. Meeting closed with prayer followed by refreshments. Of special interest to Cart- wright people -- Miss Florence McLaughlin, a former Black- stock girl, wrote the script for an educational film, entitled "On the Farm" which is to be shown on School Broadcast Friday, May 29th at 10 a.m. on channel 6. Lawrence McLaugh- lin is the narrator. People will see a good many familiar faces as most of the scenes were taken in Cartwright. Mrs. Bruce Mountjoy and Mrs. Murray Byers attended the 26th reunion of the class of 1939 at Toronto General Hospi- tal school for nureses in Tor- onto Thursday. Mrs, Chas. Smith attended graduation exercises in Water- loo University Saturday, when her grandson John Philp re- ceived his B.A. Sec. Sympathy is extended Mr. and Mrs. Russel Brown on the death of their son Gordon,' on May 18th. Mr. Herb Hooey, Mr, and Mrs. Geo. Wolfe, Brian and John, Mr. and Mrs, Harry Me- Laughlin and Mrsiill,- Forder attended the grad ion exer- cises in Guelph: riday, when Lawrence McLaughlin received his B.S.A. Degree.
