Moase, was held in the Parish Hall, May 7th, with a good at- tendance. The Pres. Mrs. Nel- son Williams called the meeting to order with the singing of the W.I. Ode, and repeating the Mary Stewart Collect in uni- son, The minutes and correspond- ence was read by Sec'y Mrs, Harold Honey, and items of bu- siness deriving from same were dealt with, A letter was read from Miss Helen McKercher re- garding short courses for this|$ year. Mrs, Mary Hardy reporting on Historical Research, gave a brief history of the Indian population of Scugog Island. ' A very interesting letter was read by Mrs. Fred Raines, from the President of the Seaforth Institute: in England. Mrs. Louise Patterson reported on the Hospital tea, and thanked all the members, who had help- ed make it a success. Honeydale members are in- vited to Mrs. Gordon Shunk's home, May 28th, for a Hobo tea, A very fine report of the District Directors Conference held recently in. Guelph, was presented by Mrs. Wm. Moase, Manchester Mrs. F. Johnston, and Mr. Wesley Johnston visited her sister Mrs. Alex, Muir at Mount Dennis on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lamb visited Mrs. Howard Lamb, Lindsay on Sunday. Mrs. P. G. Morrison of Grimsby, was a recent guest of Miss Edith Brooks on the Manchester Rd, Mr. and Mrs. John Hofstee and girls visited Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Midgley on Sunday | afternoon. Guests at the Fred Brooks --home-on-the recent holiday were Mrs, Brooks' mother, Mrs. Par- ker, Port Williams, N.S. Mrs. E. Mrs. Moase stated, in the dif- ferent age groups attending the conference, 80% were there for the first time. The F.W.I.O. were congratulated by Dr. Me- Lachlan, Pres, of the new Uni- versity of Guelph, on the untir- ing efforts of the Women's In- stitutes to raise the standards of living and education. Dr. McCready, Dean of MacDonald Institute praised the great con- tribution made by the W.I. to women in home management, and the extension of this train- ing to other communities. Mrs. Mabel Honey commented on the Motto:--The aim of edu- cation, is to produce good citi- zens, who will be publicly use- ful and privately happy. Mrs, Owen read an article about an English W.I. member. Mrs. N. Williams and Mrs. S. Cawker favoured with a vocal duet. It was a pleasure to welcome the 4-H club girls from both the Prince Albert and the Port Perry Clubs. The girls of the Port Perry Club, namely -- Grace Bassant, Catharine Jefford and Janice Williams then presented an in- formative skit, which was also part of the Achievement Day programme, The leaders and the girls are to be congratulated on their splendid effort.
