PORT PERRY STAR, THURSDAY, JUNE 18th, 1964 -- 13 Girl Guides Takd Week-End Trip A special bus trip on the week end of June 18 and 14, proved very enjoyable and interesting for the Girl Guides. Our bus, driven by Mr. Hadley, departed from the Scout Hall, at 7.00' am, on Saturday morning, reaching our destination of Up- per Canada Village at approxi- mately 12:45 p.m. The girls spent many interesting mom- | ents examining the monument, cannons, and the "Royal Cana- dian Court of Honour" at Crys- ler's Farm. Upper Canada Village was our next stop. This quaint, little village proved most inter- esting with the world famous Glengarry School House as one of its main attractions. Tents were pitched on Morri- son Island, beside the St. Law- rence River, and enjoyed the Camp Fire, almost as much as the mosquitoes enjoyed us! At 10 a.m. Sunday morning the group left camp site after a "Guides Own" church service, for a boat cruise on Lake St. Lawrence, and the many Sea- way power projects, and cargo carrying ships, After a very delicious lunch, prepared by our Quartermaster, Mrs. Roach, we again boarded the bus with "Old Fort Henry" as our next destination. A conducted tour of this historic fort proved most interesting as we examined the cannons, rifles etc. The Sea Rangers of King- ston catered to us, with a most delicious meal, which was ap- preciated by the hungry girls. We arrived at the Scout Hall | at about 10.830 p.m., after a most enjoyable week-end. This bus trip has encouraged us to work harder at our candy sales and many Guide projects to make possible another journey in the near future. * * ¥* The last meeting of the 1st Port Perry Guide Company was "an enrolment of the five new recruits. The mothers of these guides were present to see their daughters, Sylvia Jeffrey, Deb- bie Jeffrey, Joanne Prentice, Mary Lynne MacMaster & Ca- thy Sonley receive their tender- foot pins, After several games were played, sing song, a tasty lunch was served by the host- esses Elizabeth Jefford, Marsha Mulholland and Grace Bassant.
