Linstead Accepis New Pastoral Charge Port Perry United (Church will be losing its Minister of seven years, when the Rev, E, S Linstead and Mrs. Linstead move to the Hornby Charge north of Oakville at the end of the month. . Mr. Linstead came to Port Perry from the United Church at Moorefield in the Guelph Presbytery and has been most active in community projects in addition to his church duties. After a social half-hour, Mr, R. H. Cornish paid tribute to the splendid contribution to- ward the welfare of the youth in this community by these la- dies during their pleasant term of service on the school staff. An original poem by our staff poectess, Mrs. Hilda Bailey, re- counted in a sincere, though humorous manner, the pleasant memories of pertinent episodes (continued on page five) Local Couple - Attend 25th ~ Convention Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bruton were among the visiting pharm- acists who gathered at the Cha- teau Laurier in Ottawa from June Tth to the 10th. The re- union of the 1939 Graduating Class of the College of Pharm- acy was a huge success. Out of a total of 85 Grads, it was learned that 10 are deceased, but 57 of the remaining 75 at- tended the Convention. During the four-day conven- tion, the ladies of the group vi- sited the National Art Gallery in Ottawa and were also taken by bus to visit Upper Canada Village at Gananoque. The 57 couples were also -entertained 'at Banquets, Luncheons and Teas. Will Stay Open On Wednesdays During Summer sey : Starting this week the Brew- er's Retail Store, and the L.C. B.O. Retail Store in Port Perry will stay open six days a week during the summer months, It has been customery to close these stores every Wednesday, but for the convenience of local residents and the many tourists and cottage owners in the area stores will stay open on Wed- nesday. Business hours will be from 10 a.m, to 6 p.m. every day, ex- cept Friday when hours will be extended three hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m, The Store hours will revert back to regular schedule for Brewer's Retail Store on Sept. 5th and for the L.C.B.O. I Teachers Receive Corsages, Gils| From School Board And Staff | Recent Graduate Miss Marlene Velma Badour was among the class of twenty- one graduates from the Ontario Hospital School of Nursing, Whithy, Ontario, who graduat- ed on Friday, June 12th, 1964. Marlene is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Badour, R.R. 4, Port Perry, and attended Pub- lic and High School in Port Perry. The graduating class were feted to many events pre- vious to their graduation, in- cluding a graduation ball, a Black Band presentation, Gra- duation Tea at the Hospital and were guests 'of the Staff Doctors at a dinner party. At 9 o'clock the official cere- monies commenced under the capable supervision of the Mas- | ter of Ceremonies, Brother Earl Geer, District Deputy Grand Master of District No. 41. Af- ter the singing of O Canada Brother Geer welcomed all the members and friends with words of wisdom and friendship. The Reeves of Port Perry, Reach and Scugog brought] greetings and best wishes from their respective councils and municipalities, Brother Earl Martyn, Reeve of Reach Twp., welcomed both young and old, his theme being "We are building for the fyture, let us face the future and put our trust in God". Sister Georgina Moore, Noble Grand of Maybelle Rebekah Lodge extended a sincere wel- come to the Rebekah members and friends in attendance and called upon Sisters Joan Aldred and Florence Fralick to sing "Thanks Be to God", Sister Grace Love, District Deputy President, of District 8, Oshawa East, gave an outstand- ing address on the co-operation between Maybelle Lodge and Warriner Lodge and was proud to be able to call it "Our Lodge Hall". = Sister Love welcomed and introduced Sister Jessie Hillier, of Niagara Falls, Vice- President of the Rebekah As- sembly of Ontario, Sister Hil- lier, the incoming president brought greetings from Sister MacDonald, the President of the Rebekah Assembly, who was unable to attend, and wished the Lodges health and prosperity in the years to come.
