Mrs, Clarence Harrison; Mrs. Clarence Bryant; Miss Vera Leach and Mrs. Mabel Taylor enjoyed a bus trip to Guelph last week with members of the Myrtle W.I. Mrs. Taylor re- mained to spend a few days with her son Douglas. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. (Clarence Harrison during the past week were: Miss Divina Leitch, of Burns Lake, B.C.; Mr. Percy Keast and son About one hundred and fifty friends and relatives called on Mrs. W. Albert Wright's Celebrate Their Golden Wedding A very pleasant afternoon and evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Fred Trewin, Blackstock on Wednes- day, June 17, 1964, when an in- formal reception was held in honor of Mrs. Trewin's parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wright. Approximately 75 friends called to offer congratulations and good wishes and enjoyed a pleasant chat with the bride and groom of 50 years, while partaking of a cup of tea with the usual dainty lunch topped with wedding cake. The honoured couple were the recipients of an ebony cane with gold band; Lady's black purse; Fireside seat; gold blan- ket; table lamp; Westminster chimes clock; Aluminum serv- ing tray; artificial floral ar- rangements; a basket of golden mums, a tea set (teapot, cream and sugar), also cups and saucers and candy dish of gold trimmed china; bath towels, confections and several dona- tions of money, as well as 100 cards. Other friends who did not call Wednesday have been and are still calling with greetings and good wishes for the happy couple. Holtbhy On Thursday evening, 18th, the U.C.W, and a few friends treated themselves to a nice dinner at Flamingo Restaurant, Port Perry. Their kind and efficient service was appreciat- ed. The committee in charge-- Kaye Smith, Willa and Helen Holtby had arranged an inform- al and relaxing programme. There were contests, a humor- ous reading by Janet Vernon, the exchange of "Mystery Sis- ter Gifts" and rehearsed a few old songs in unison, if not al- ways in harmony. The next meeting will be in September. On Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Clare Vernon and sister, Mrs, Jas, Wilson, attended the for- tieth wedding anniversary of their aunt and uncle, Rev. and Mrs, Milton Sanderson, at High Park Gardens, Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Tom O'Connell and family, of Ottawa, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Conlin on the week-end. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. David Mosienko on the birth of a baby daughter. Last year this team ad- vanced to the semi-finals, win- ning 3 straight, then losing 2-1, In the first game Simcoe ed- ged Port 7-6 in a game Port should have won. In the second game, Willow- dale fought back from a 9-4 score to win 18-10. The local boys had a bad day, perhaps they don't realize that the men who Coach these boys give a lot of time to promote the game, so the least the boys could do is give their all. When Playing on Saturday most of these boys went for the ride. This could be Port Perry's year in Pee Wee, so it's up to the boys to produce for their coaches, Legion Squirts Edge N. Oshawa Port Perry Legion Squirts squeezed by a tough N. Oshawa team 9 to 8 on Sunday after- noon at the Ball Park. This was the first real test for the Legion lads and they came on strong after a bad start. They fell behind 4-0 in the first, 6-3 by the third, tied the game in the sixth and won in the seventh with a solid hit by Roland Skinner, his fifth in 5 times at bat. Rick Evans pitched the win, with a fine effort, striking out 14, walking 5, and giving up 5 hits. ; ul Bind for N. Oshawa, struck- out 8, walked 4 but gave up 16 hits. Besides Skinner's 5 tits, Evans had 8, Nightingale 2 and Jeffery 2, one a home run.
