Miss Eva Redford of Durham has been visiting her cousins, Mrs. Ray Medd and Mrs. Dav- id Prentice for several days. Miss Bonnie Steward of Ux- bridge is visiting Miss Dianne Card for a few days. Mrs. Mervin MacCannell vis- ited relatives in Syracuse, N.Y. for a few days last week. Her aunt, Mrs. James MacGregor of California returned with her for a visit. Several from here have been away blueberry picking. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Prent- ice attended the Thomas-Prent- ice wedding in Uxbridge on Fri- day evening and then motored to Nobleton on Saturday to att- ended the Noble4Boak wedding. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Powel have returned from a vacation in Algonquin Park. Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair Robert- son and children and Mr. Peter Lacey were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Bailey on Sunday. The U.C.W. will hold a family and missionary night at the church on August 5th, at 8.15. Mr. Murray Richardson will be guest speaker and will show pictures of his work at Cold Lake, Alberta. On Friday evening a host of friends, neighbours tendered a shower in honour of Miss Patsy Bailey. Miss Elaine Medd read a humerous rhyming address. The gifts were beautiful and useful. Wedding A pretty wedding took place in the United Church at Green- bank, Saturday, July 4th, when Constance Carol Hancock was united in marriage to Edward James Rae, Mr. David Harris officiated. The church was decorated with orange blossoms, roses and delphenium. The soloist was Miss Marion Hewitt of Winni- peg, an Aunt of the groom, and Miss Betty Couves played the wedding music. .After a brief honeymoon in Northern Ont., the couple will make their home in Mimico. Sweetman attended a Special Diabetic Conference in Convo- cation Hall, Toronto, on Mon- day evening. Doctors from for- ty-four countries were present, Three honourary degrees were presented after an impressive parade and pageantry, to three doctors, for their contribution to Diabetic Research. One of these, Dr. Sprague of U.S.A. was the guest speaker of the evening. Those attending re- ceived a great deal of informat- ion about the disease in other countries. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dowson spent a few days in Kingston as guests of Rev. H. G. and Mrs. Lester, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bruce and daughter visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. Bruce. Mr. and Mrs. G. Sweetman visited recently with Mr, and Mrs. Arnold Fallis of Millbrook Miss Annie Henderson of Chilliwack, B.C. spent a week with her cousin, Mrs. Gordon Sweetman and her husband at their home here. Miss Henderson was a nurse in the First World War and has since been superintendent in a hospital in Chilliwack. Re- tiring last year, she took a trip to South Africa to visit other friends, who had been with her in the service. She spent from October 1963 to June 1st, 1964 enjoying trips through South Africa. From there she flew to the British Isles, where she visited other former nurses. During her stay here, Mr. and Mrs. Sweetman had a gather- ing of their family to meet her: Mr. and Mrs. A. Sweetman and family of Bowmanville; Mr, and Mrs. Ross Sweetman and fam- ily of Port Perry; Mr. and Mrs, Jack Clark and family of Rag- lan; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sweet- man of Streetsville, also two cousins, Miss Candace Hender- son and Miss Lena Maybe, both of Toronto. They also gave her the pleasure of a trip to Niag- ara Falls. Her stay was short- ened by a request from the Chilliwack Hospital for her to return to take over her old post while some others enjoyed a holiday. They say, "Old Sold- iers Never Die", we presume old nurses also serve a long time with great devotion. Mr. and Mrs. G. Sweetman visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Fallis in Millbrook Mrs. R. Moase of Toronto is visiting with her niece Mrs. W. Keen and Mr. Keen. Mrs. G. Fishley and Mrs. J.| Fishley motored to Belleville on Thursday and took their guests Mrs, A. Buitenhuis and Miss Janet Quigley from Western Canada to visit friends there. Friends were surprised to hear of the passing of Mr. Al- bert Orchard of Orillia, a for- mer resident of Seagrave. Suff- ering a stroke on Wednesday, he passed away on Saturday night. We understand the army worms are dbing great damage in the Honeydale area. Every effort is being made to check their ravages. Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Boe have returned from their motor trip to the west coast, having visit- ed friends in many areas. Mrs. Olive Bryant, a niece returned with them to renew friendships here. Mr. Carl Boe, a teacher at Peterboro Collegiate is spend- ing his vacation instructing young high school teachers at Queens University, Kingston. WEDDING Barnett - Couch Seagrave United Church was decorated with flowers for the marriage of Marion Elizabeth Couch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Wilbert James Couch, Black- water, and John William Bar- nett, son of Mrs. John Barnett and the late John Barnett of Toronto. The marriage took place on Saturday, June 19th, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. E. McNeil offic- fating. The soloist, Allan Clark of Greenwood, Ontario, sang, "0 Perfect Love" and "O -Sav- iour Hear Us", He was accom- panied by Mrs. John Tobin of Seagrave. - Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full length gown with a rose patt- erned net over satin with fing- er-tip sleeves, Her headdress was a tiara of pearls and ery- stals with veil. The matron-of-honour, was Mrs. Harold Medd, sister of the bride and the bridesmaid, Mrs. , Ralph Clarke. They were dress- ed identically in street length gowns of blue satin peau. The flowergirl, Miss Karen Couch, was in white and carried a cas- cade of pink roses. Their head- dressess were matching rosette hats. The best man was Mr. James Couch of Orillia, and the ushers were Brian Barnett of Toronto and Roderick Couch of Black- water. For the reception at Seagrave church, the bride's mother rec- eived wearing a blue flowered chiffon dress with white ace- essories and a corsage of pink and white roses, The bride- groom's mother was in a pink lace sheath, with white hat and corsage of pink and white roses For a honeymoon to northern points, the bride wore a pow- der blue poodle suit with white accessories. They will reside at 149 Cosburn Ave., Toronto. Out of town guests were from Toronto, Concord, Belleville, Port Perry, Burketon, Seagrave and Barrie.
