GREENBANK NEWS The Vacation Bible School held in Greenbank United Ch- urch, July 13-17 was a decided success. The enrolment was 85, an increase of 40 percent over last year. Throughout the school the interest and the at- tendance was almost perfect, which is a reflection of the good work done by the leaders. On Friday evening the Min- ister, Rev. David Harris wel- -comed a large number of par- ents and friends to the closing .service, when the various clas- ses demonstrated by word and song the lessons they had lear- ned through the week. This time of profitable in- .struction in religion education would not be possible without the excellent co-operation of the ladies of the church who spent much time in the prep- aration of the teaching mat- erial, and those who showed their practical interest by don- ations, cookies and refresh- ments. About forty members of the Carnegie family attended the Annual Picnic at Elgin Park, Uxbridge, last Saturday after- noon. A good attendance. On Sunday the Heron-Hunter families with an attendance of eighty was held at Wellsprings Park: Master Terry Aldred retur- ned home on Saturday after en- joying a week at camp. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Pearson accompanied - by Mrs. J. Tate of North Battlefield, Saskatch- ewan were guests at the wed- ding of Miss Margaret Wood of Cresswell on Saturday last week. Mrs. Harry Guy is spending a few days with her daughters in Peterborough. The Lorne Blakely family spent Sunday at Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Scott's cottage. Mrs. Elmer Clements and Mrs. H. Eagleson, of Seagrave were visitors at our church on Sunday morning. Mrs. T. Allen, of Toronto is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs, Walter Phoenix and other relatives in the village. Obituary- The death of Frank Dowson occured Wednesday, July 8th in Community Hospital, Port Perry. Mr. Dowson was in his 80th year. A son of the late George and | service. On July 21st and 22nd, 36 farmers from Ontario County anjoyed a bus trip to visit farms in Kent County. The trip was sponsored by the Ontario County Beef Im- provement Association. The trip was arranged through the co-operation of Mr. Don Ruth- erford, Agricultural Represent- ative for Kent County, and Mr. H. L. Fair, Agricultural Rep- resentative for Ontario County.
