Ontario Plowmen's Association met in the Township Hall, Brooklin, on Wednesday, Aug- ust 5th, to make plans for their annual plowing match. Mr. Howard Farndale, President, was in charge of the meeting, The South Ontario Plowing Match will be held this year at National Stud Farm, R.R. 1, Oshawa, on Wednesday, Sept- ember 30th. The following com- mittees were appointed: Lands Committee-- Chairman--Howard Farndale, Elmer Powell, Robert Baird, Joe Tran, Dave Tran, Bert Guthrie, Lorne McCoy. Gordon Corner--East Whitby Township Armour McMillan--Reach Township. The Junjor Plowing Match will be held on Saturday, Sept- ember 26th, at 10.00 a.m., at National Stud Farm, R.R. 1, Oshawa. The committee in charge of the Junior Match will be: Chairman--Howard Farndale Murray Dunkeld, Jim Lee, Lorne McCoy and Elmer Powell. At the Junior Match this year, mounted plows only will be used, and the Juniors are asked to bring their own equip- ment. However, if contestants wish to have equipment sup- plied, they should get in touch with any member of the Junior Plowing Match committee. PHONE 985 - 2572 PRENTICE PORT PERRY already ' The Uxbridge Baptist Church was prettily decorated on July 11, 1964 with baskets of blue delphinium and shasta daisies, when Donna Marie Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson became the bride of Mr. Charles Franklin Barkey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barkey. Reverend Donald Evans, cousin of the bride, officiated. The bride given in marriage . by her father, wore a floor length gown of nylon chiffon over taffeta. The oval neckline was decorated with appliques of heavy lace as was the de- tachable flowing train. Rose appliques dotted the controlled skirt. pearls and satin held a long floor length veil of nylon tulle. Her elbow length gloves were of nylon chiffon falling to a point. She carried a ecresent shaped bouquet of red sweet- heart roses and white carna- tions. Her cultured pearl ear- ring and necklace set was a gift of the groom. Maid of Honour was Miss Sally Hicks friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Betty Johnson, sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Karen Adams, niece of the groom and Miss Linda Johnson, cousin' of the bride. Bridesmaids wore bell skirted dresses of turquoise shantung with overskirts of blue organza caught up in front with a rose The bride's headress of | | . ! carnations Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barkey shantung. Their gloves of blue organza were similar to the bride's. Their headresses, bands of shantung, held should- er length veils of turquoise ny- lon tulle. They carried cas- cades of pink roses and white carnations. Their shoes were white. Each wore a single strand of pearls. Miss Laureen Barkey, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Her dress of shantung was covered with a sleeveless over- dress of white organza and split skirt. Her short wrist length gloves were of white organza matching her shoes. Her headress was similar to those of the bridesmaids. Shae carried a tiny cascade of pink and wore a gold backed cultured pearl, a gift of the bride. Mr. Walter Barkey, brother of the groom was best man, Messrs. Rae and Lloyd John- son, brothers of the bride, and Mr. Dan Barkey, nephew of the groom, were ushers. Mrs. Fred Wilson was or- ganist. Miss Effie Mustard was soloist singing The Lord's Prayer before the ceremony; The Wedding Prayer during it, and O Perfect Love during the signing of the register. At the reception in the church auditorium the bride's mother received in a pink brocaded dress with overblouse of pink georgette and sash of the same Couple Wed In Uxbridge material. Her accessories were beige and pink with a corsage of soft pink sweetheart rose buds. Mother of the groom, Mrs. Charles Barkey, assisted wear- ing a satin two piece dress of turquoise flowers on a white background. The skirt was of soft pleats. Her accessories were white with a corsage of deep pink carnations. Following the reception the bride and groom left for a" fsoneymoon trip to Gettysburg, Washington and New York. For travelling the bride chose a turquoise dress of serrano and matching cape with beige and white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and carnations. On their return, Mr. & Mrs. Barkey will reside at R.R. 3, Claremont. Guests were present from Kemptville, Exeter, Toronto, Cannington, Stouffville and Uxbridge area.
