The correct day is Thursday, not Wednesday, and the date is August 27th. Port Perry In Play - Offs The Port Perry Hardball Club have fought hard all sea- son long for a playoff in the Victoria County Independent Baseball League and last Fri- day night at the fairgrounds park they came up with a very fine effort to clinch third place by beating Fenelon Falls 2-1 in a closely matched contest. Since this is only their second year in the league 'and playing 'with a good share of young ball players and some of which it is their first year of hardball. They should be congratulated for a fine showing. The team has been held up all season in the rough going by the strong right arm of Garnet Warriner on the mound who has pitched the team to several important victories a- long with the fine catching of his chattering battery mate Mac McMillan. Also the team seemed to come to life and gain some con- fidence when they dug old man Bob Healey out of moth balls to look after the chores at first base and the much improved playing of Richard (Chic) Car- negie and Gary Edgar in the infield and we must not forget the 'Manager Ross McLean whose persistence and tireless efforts got the team rolling. Port Perry will meet Little Britain in the first game of a best 4 out of 7 semi final series this Friday night, Aug. 21 at the fairgrounds.
