Port Perry Council Review New Zoning By-Law With Planning Bd. A joint meeting between Port Perry Council and Planning Board was held recently to dis- cuss a Zoning By-law (first draft) for the Village of Port Perry. i Mr. Gander, acting as spokes- man for the Canadian Mitchell Associates, gave each one pre- sent a draft copy of the zoning by-law and then turned to twol maps on display: 1. (a) a map which sets out in different colours the exist- ing land uses. (b) a preliminary zoning map setting out the different zones as they should be and subject to revision. 2. The proposed zoning by- law will incorporate and take over the functions of other by- laws and wherever it differs from other existing by-laws, the zoning by-law will be the final authority to be followed. 3. After the by-law is studied by Council and the Planning Board, the first step is to have it passed by 'Council, subject to the approval of the O.M.B. 4, The final step is to have a hearing and the by-law comes into effect after the require- ments of the Planning Act have been met and approval has been received from the O.M./B. 6. In order to carry out the purposes and provisions of the by-law, the Village of Port Perry is divided into zones, with certain letters and figures re- presenting each zone, as fol- lows: -- Zones po -- a Short Titles Conservation 01 Public Open Space 02 First Density Residential R1 Second Density Res. R2 Gen. Commercial Zone C1 Service Commercial Zone C2 Limited Commercial Zone C3 Industrial Zone M 6. After Mr. Gander had made a quick review of the pro- posed by-law, it was pointed out that there will be some correc- tions and omissions to be put in order, such as the number of square feet for a residence of one-storey 'and more than one- dwelling is to be set back from the property line; provision to have corner lots in new sub- divisions larger so that a resi- dence can be set back an equal distance from each street line and numerous other changes which would come to light with further study such as industrial zone and an agricultural zone, etc.,, also some conservation areas seem to be out of order. It was decided that copies of the by-law and the maps pre- pared be given further thought and study by members of Council and the Planning Board and then a meeting be arranged to meet with the consultants of the Canadian Mitchell Associ- ates. Port Perry Bod & Gun Club On August 23rd, a teen-ager from Shedden, Ontario, while vacationing at Birdseye Centre, Port Perry, caught a 35" mus. kinonge, weighing about 15 lbs, on the south side of Beaver Meadow Creek. The proud fisherman was Bob Orchard and as this was the first lunge he had ever caught he plans to have it mounted in a very ela- borate manner with electric lighting, etc. He had been out only a short time and the fight was short and sweet. * x 0% As advertised in the Coming Events column, the first meet ing of the Rod and Gun Club for the Fall - Winter season will take place on Monday, September 14th and there is much to be done by the variams Committees.
