PORT PERRY STAR, THURSDAY, SEPT. 3rd, 1964 -- 15 Cub News A most enjoyable week-end was held recently at the for- mer George Stone Park, north of Greenbank when approxim- ately eighteen Cubs from 1st. Port Perry Cub Pack "B" jour- neyed by car with their leaders, Cubmaster Gordon Goode and assistant Cubmasters, Charles Reesor and Howard Hall. Although the weather was extremely cold and some claim- ed they nearly froze to death, and swimming was curtailed, there were plenty of other ac- tivities arranged for their Through pleasure. the generosity of Mr. Earl Jackson who donated a huge fancy cake, the boys were able to hold 'Open House' and entertain their parents at a camp fire party on the Satur- day evening. The programme put on by the boys with the leaders assistance was quite versatile and full of merriment. The war dance, with "Indians" in war paint and costumes made by themselves during 'he craft sessions, was certainly quite unique. Each group of boys under the direction of their "sixers" put on several amusing skits and a delightful sing-song rounded out the fine evening. This opportunity for the par- ents to attend the camp and see the enviroment and set-up of a boys camp was quite a privil- ege and interesting experience. It is quite an accomplishment to run such a first class camp and handle the activities of boisterous young boys in such a successful manner. Credit for much of the harmonious and well managed arrangements is due Mrs. Gordon Goode who worked behind the scenes and planned the menues and craft work for the leaders. | At the close of the evening camp fire party a sincere vote of thanks was extended to "B" Pack by the Chairman of the Group Committee, Mr. Donald Murray and Chairman of the Scout Council, Mr. Gerald Nelson.
