Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sandi- son were honored on Friday evening when their many friends of the community met in the basement of Burn's Church and presented them with a miscellaneous shower of useful gifts. "have again been opened for "the frightened "Grade- Niners". We have new addi- tions to our school besides stu- dents. Yes, we also have new faces behind the desks at the front of the room. Teaching English, Physical Education, History, and German is Miss Weber who hails from London. Mr. Neigh comes to us from Stratford and teaches Chemis- try, Science and Mathematics, History and Guidance are taught by Mr. McNair who came from Bradford High School, Mr. Armstrong has come a long way indeed from Vancouver, British Columbia to teach us Bookkeeping and His- tory. To all students, we ex- tend a hearty welcome. With track and field equip- ment set up, the students of Port Perry High are practicing diligently to bring fame and honour to the School. Our own track meet will be held Sept- ember 25, while the inter-school meet will not be held until spring. Any help that I could get from you as students would be really appreciated. Gardner was host- ess to the Ladies Bible Class on Wednesday evening Sept. 9th with an atendance of twenty- two. The meeting opened with the singing of Hymn 419 "My Faith Looks Up to Thee". The Secrip- ture lesson was read by Mrs. H. Doble and prayer by Mrs. R. Batten. A reading by Mrs. Lorne Par- rott; Mrs. R, C. Hyatt favour- ed with a solo "I heard the voice of Jesus Say". Mrs. M. Ward, of Claremont gave an inspiring message on 'Family Life" or the "Role of a Christ- ian in the home". The meeting closed with the singing of a Hymn and prayer.
