Af 3 5 hud g 2d Vaid Age ARs ly ae PORT PERRY STAR, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8th, 1964-15 Port Perry United Church Choir On Thursday evening, Sept. 24th, members and friends of the Port Perry United Church Choir, travelled by chartered bus to the O'Keefe Centre, Tor- onto, for the performance of the opera, "Die Fledemaus". This popular comic opera by Richard Strauss was translated into English for the added en- Jjoyment of the audience. The authentic stage settings and lovely costumes provided a magnificent background for the talented artists performing. Each star excelled in their dra- matic parts as well as the vocal renditions, The chorus work was exceptionally fine. An added highlight of the opera was the ballet exquisitely dan- ced by members of the Cana- dian Ballet Company. The Canadian Opera Company is to be congratulated on the tremen- ° dous contribution it is making to our culture. At the conclusion of the per- formance everyone enjoyed lunch at Murrays Restaurant where reservations had been made by efficient committee. During the bus trip home a sing-song was enjoyed and everyone arrived home feeling that the annual choir outing had been a complete success.
