Hamilton, Traffic Amalyst of the Department of Highways was present at a re- cent (Council meeting when he explained his traffic survey for 7A Highway. He stated that according to the radar control survey, 85% of the people drive in'a sensible manner, the other 16% going to the extreme of either too slow or too fast. He also reported that he had presented his survey to the Councils of other Municipali- ties concerned and although the Department of Highways has the right to set the speed limit in certain 'areas on the High. way, they prefered to work in co-operation with the Municipal Councils. He recommended that the speed limit on TA be increased to 36 Miles Per Hour, stating that in his opinion and in ac- cordance with their surveys, the general public drive slower when a reasonable Miles per Hour speed is permitted. He promised to put on an- other .radar. test in July, 1965 and if the survey doesn't show a reduction in the speed of mo- torists on 7A through the Vill- age of Port Perry, the speed limit may be reverted back to the 30 miles per hour. Last Sunday afternoon brought to aclose Minor Baseball Port Perry Specialettes, who won the girls championship this Port Perry Specialettes, who won the gils championship this year, played host to an All-Star team picked from the rest of the teams in their league, while the minor softball executive took on the Port Perry Lions Bantam Teams who won the Ontario - York Bantam Championship. The highlight of the afternoon was the pfesentation of five trophies and crests to the teams. In the above photos are three of the trophy presentations. On he left, Dr. M. B. Dymond, Minister of Health for Ontario is presenting the trophy he donated to Joe Baker, | captain of the Seagrave Squirt team, who won the Port Perry and District Squirt Championship, defeating Port Perry. On the right is Vin --Staff Photo On Wednesday, September 30th, Ontario's premier John Robarts officially opened Ont- ario County's new $1,300,000 court house and administration building on: Rossland Road, Oshawa. The ceremony was at- tended by more than 3000 and the setting was an impressive one with full pomp and cere- mony taking place in the 60- degree weather and sunshine. Dr. Matthew B. Dymond, Provincial Health Minister, of Port Perry was among those , attending the opening and an Premier Robaris Officially Opens New Ontario County Court House honour guard from the Ont- ario Regiment was inspected by Premier Robarts. After inspec- tion, Mr. Robarts commented "This ceremony here today is proof that two municipal bodies, such as the City of Oshawa and the County of Ontario can work together in a spirit of progress, co-operation and har- mony."
