: . nc " ain SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB A nice crowd attended the 'Club meeting at the Hall Port Perry, Wednesday, Sept. 23rd. Quite a few members were voted in to plan activities and hobbies to entertain our mem- bers. Other business was dis- cussed. A bus trip was also planned for Monday, Oct. 5th, when two bus loads met at Port Perry and travelled east to Pi- geon Lake where all enjoyed a delicious hot dinner served at Lauries Place. Then to Lind- say, to stop there for an hour, Our Club members and friends really enjoy these outings. All are grateful to Mrs. Robertson and Mrs. Chapman for these pleasant trips. Not forgetting Obituary- MISS MURIEL E. OKE The death of a former Osha- wa public school teacher, Miss Muriel Elizabeth Oke, occurred at her residence, 290 Mary St., Oshawa. She had been in failing health for some years. She was born in Port Hope, a daughter of the late Freder- ick and Nellie Oke. Miss Oke was educated at Port Hope schools and the Toronto Normal School. For some time she taught north of Orillia and at Port Hope. The deceased came to Osha- wa in 1928 and taught at Ce- dardale, King Street, and Rit- son Public Schools. Ill-health forced her retirement in 1959. Miss Oke was a member of Simcoe Street United Church, and was an active member of the Harvey Hunt Unit of the United Church Women. She was also a member of the Cana- dian Club. The deceased is survived by two sisters, Helen, of Oshawa and Mrs. Frederick DeNure of Port Perry. Two nieces, Mrs. Lawrence Nichols (Eleanor) of Seagrave, and Doris, of Oshawa and a nephew, Frederick C. De- Nure, of Lindsay. Service was from the MeclIn- tosh-Anderson Funeral 'Chapel on Oct. 13. Then on to Bobcaygeon and then to Lindsay town. We sure love these trips and shopping around A treat will soon be again in store At O'Keefe's theatre so watch | for more. President reported the Roy Godfrey Orchestra had been secured for New Year's eve Dance. A delicious lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Orr Venning attended the Watkin's Confer- ence at the Fireside Barbecue, Lindsay, Wednesday.
