BRR A ee BM FT SE A Scugog Twp. The regular meeting of the Scugog Township Council was held in the Town Hall on Tues- day, October 6, at 8 p.m. Members present, Reeve, V. Aldred and Councillors, G. De- mara, Joe Dowson, E. Prentice and C. B. Holt. Minutes of the last regular meeting and a special meeting were read and adopted. RESOLUTIONS: That leave be granted to transfer job and money on By- law 1223 from lot 22, Con. 6W to Side Road No. 1, Con. 9, Lot 7. Carried. Moved that the Scugog Coun- cil agree with the resolution of the Dept. of Highways regard- ing speed limit no parking signs on 7A Highway. (Port Perry Causeway.) Moved that Mrs. Hardy be authorized to purchase 8 prs. of drapes for the Town Hall. Moved that in as much as the Twp. of Scugog is paying 7.49, of the High School re- quisition and this percentage would cover the cost of eighty pupils, and as we are only sending 28 pupils we ask a com- plete review of our assessment be undertaken by the County of Ontario, and we wish to ap- peal the Equalization for High School purposes in 1964 for the 1965 levy. Those present from this area were -- Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Wanamaker, Mr. and Mrs. R. Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. J. Tobin, Mr. and Mrs. G. Bright, Miss Jean Bright, Mr. and Mrs. A. Bruce, all of Seagrave and also Mr. and Mrs. K. Rodd of Greenbank and Mrs. H. Strong of Port Perry. The gathering was in honour of Mr. James Sycum, who. was retiring after several years service with the Scarborough Water Works De- partment. Mr. Sycum, better known as Dick, was a resident of Seagrave for many years, and is still a frequent visitor. He was presented with a bath- robe and house slippers by the visitors. Miss Laura Mark Yeading a short addresss. Games and refreshments were enjoyed until the wee small hours. Mr. and Mrs. W. Keen enter- tained Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rahm of Blackstock on Friday even- ing and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wright of Cannington Sunday. Mr. Glenn Wanamaker is a patient in Port Perry Hospital. Mr. Milton Stone and Mr. T. Druean are .still there. We hope for the best for all. A goodly number from this community took in the Plow- ing Match at Peterborough on Thursday. Or, for des- sert, simply spoon out of can into indivdual dessert glasses and top with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. 4-H Homemakers Hold 4th Meeting The fourth meeting of the Bethesda Blue Bells 4-H Home- | making Club was held at the home of Mrs. Oshenhurst on October 7, 1964. Due to the absence of the president, vice-president, Lyn- ne Foster opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. The minutes of the last meet ing were read by Joyce Wilson. The Roll Call was answered by 12 girls. Nominations for Press Re- porter were held and the re- sults are as follows: Uxbridge--Donna Morrison Port Perry: Donna Tripp The next meeting will be held at the home of Shirley Rodd on Sept. 19th at 7 p.m. In the discussion part of the meeting, Mrs. Tripp, gave a very interesting talk on how to serve "Formal and Informal Tea". For the remainder of the meeting we made and served an "Informal Tea" and Mrs. Ashenhurst demonstrated the making of suitable sandwiches for an afternoon tea. PORT PERRY STAR, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1964 -- 5 A special meeting of the Scu- gog Township Council was held in the Town Hall on Monday, October 12th, 1964 at 8 p.m. Reeve, Victor Councillors, Dowson, E. Prentice, C. B. Holt were present. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Centennial Project and to pass a by-law providing the same. Also to pass a resolution to petition for the Interim Subsidy on road expenditures from Jan. 1st to Sept. 30th, 1964. Mr. Ted Griffen, Building some advice re building an addition to the Town Hall. After considerable discussion Joe Dowson called on Mr. T. Malloy re acquiring some land from him to the east and ad- jacent to the Hall to provide access to the yard ete.
