PROSPECT NEWS On the evening of Wednesday November 11th, the UIC.W., a- long with six visitors met at the home of Mrs. Clare Vernon. The meditation, in keeping with Remembrance Day, was a tribute to the fallen warriors, disabled veterans and those who sacrificed loved ones to build a free world. Janet Vernon, as convenor, opened with the poem "In Flander's Fields", followed by the singing of the hymn, "Faith of Our Fathers", in uni- son. Ruby Smith read the Scrip- ture, taken from Malachi, Chap. 3 vs. 16-18. The devotional thoughts,a "Hawaiian Leis of Remembrance", were given by Georganne Legge. Hawaii ob- serves National Memorial Day by the placing of colorful leis, prepared by the school children a prayer, Readings, entitled, "Does No One Rememben Me" and "Why Wear a Poppy", were given by Tot Holtby and Janet Vernon, respectively. The hymn "Abide With Me" was sung. The president, Lucille Gray, chaired the business session. In the absence of the secretary, Kaye 'Smith read the minutes and correspondence. The nominating committee presented the slate of officers for 1965, as follows: President--Lucille Gray Vice-Pres.--Jean Holtby Secretary--Marion Webster Treasurer--Tot Holtby Press Sec'y--Mrs. Meta Holtby Pianist--Willa Holtby Asst, Pianist--Kaye Smith Sylvia Diamond, Mrs, Frank Vernon, (Parsonage Com.--Lucille Gray, Marion Webster Hospital Convenors--Mus. She is now visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Dyle Thomson, in Newmarket, and will be attending the com- mencement exercises on Friday night, where her grandson is a 1964 graduate.
