PERRY Marriage Ceremony Conducted By Brother Of Bride Burns Presbyterian Church, Ashburn, was the scene of a wedding on Saturday afternoon when Faye Ann Heron, daugh- ter of Mr. and 'Mrs. Edgar Rob- ert Heron, Ashburn, was united in marriage to Andrew Milne Leaper, Toronto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Milne Leaper, Ab- erdeen, Scotland. The Reverend Xenmeth A. Heron, B.A., B.D., brother of the bride assisted the Reverend H. M. Buntain in the ceremony. "The maid of honor was Miss Mary Rose Heron, Ashburn; bridesmaids: Miss Donna Cro- mie, Toronto, and Miss Joan Conibear, Brooklin, and the flower girl, Miss Lenore Mec- Amdless,. Toronto. They, wore similar, semi-formal gowns of silk brocade with: : 'peau-de-soie | commerbunds and streamer | bows. The maid-of-honor and 'the flower: girl were gowned in gold 'and the 'bridesmaids in pale green, "they carried cas- cades of yellow and bronze chrysanthemums and the flower girl a white and gold basket of the same flowers. Their head- dresses were matching peau-de- soie wedding rings finished with bows and matching veils. The best man was the Rev- erend George Vais, Toronto, and the ushers were Mr, Lewis Wagg, Brampton, and Mr. Gor- don Thompson, Toronto. " For the reception held in the church hall, the bride's mother received in a turquoise silk draped sheath dress and mat- ching hat with pink melina trim, matching accessories and wearing a corsage of Americon beauty pink roses. The bride- groom's parents, residing in Scotland, were unable to attend the wedding, but many gifts, letters and telegrams of good 'wishes were received from rela- tives there, . For their honeymoon trip the bride wore a mauve wool sheath dress and matching hat, trimmed with purple velvet and a yellow orchid corsage. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. An- drew Leaper will reside at 584 Lawrence avenue west, apart- ment 2, Toronto. Port Perry UCW (Mirs. M. Dowson, Pres. of the U.C.W. welcomed the members present at the general meeting on Nov. 10th and explained the purpose of the U.C.W. Unit. Mrs. Willis of Unit 4 con- ducted the Devotional. entitled "For 'all the Saints", followed by prayer by Mrs. O'Neill, Mrs. Griffen spoke 'on our duty to our neighbour, both near and far, and on the "Over and Above" fund. The programme was under the direction of Unit 6 and Mrs. R. "A. Peel presented a film "American Leprosy Missions" for which Mrs, L. M. Harris read the commentary. At the close of the meeting a bouteous lunch was served by Unit 1. UNIT 1, U.C.W. Unit 1 of the United Church Women met on Tues., Nov, 8rd kell. at the home of Mrs, Melva Bic-- Our leader Miss Audrey Kent, welcomed all, and opened the meeting by reading an ap- propriate poem, "Life Worth- while". iE Fifteen members answered the roll call by contributing to either the "Touch and Take" Table or the "Haggle" Table for the Annual Bazaar Nov. 21. The theme for our devotions "Ambassadors of Reconciliation was given by Miss O. Real and 'Mrs, R. Cook. Mrs. M. Bickell dealt with the study book on India. The chap- ter being The Protestan Church in India from Keral the south to Assam in the ex- treme north. All felt that we are a very privileged nation and should help the less fortun- ate in this world. Further. plans were made for the bazaar. Calendars were handed out to be sold. Christ- mas cards may be purchased from our Unit. Mrs. O. Edwards and Mrs, R. Gibson served a delicious lunch after which a vote of thanks was extended to the hostess. .
